I submitted my application August 22nd and the university received it on August 23rd, a full 22 days ago. I'm aware of the turnaround time being 4 to 6 weeks on average. What I don't understand is the mixed stories I'm getting from the main office. I called them soon after it was sent to confirm everything was received in one piece, and that my application was complete. The guy said he had everything and to call in two weeks for a status update, as the applications were reviewed on a rolling basis and my application had not yet been assigned a CU ID#.

Anyway, I call back this morning and the girl tells me they have my complete application BUT there has been no change and they only start looking at files as of the October 1st early deadline. Does anyone know why I am getting two different stories or am I not understanding something? Also, I have not gotten any email notification or CU ID#. Please advise, thanks.

You have just had your first experience with university bureaucrats. You can expect a lot more of this in the future.

hellojan _ that’s not a helpful response. Here is the correct information on admissions decisions: [Admissions Decisions | General Studies](http://www.gs.columbia.edu/admissions-decisions)

Thanks for everyones’ responses. I received my confirmation email entailing my CU ID# and the corresponding tracking website(it only took them a month). Now I’m hoping the decision will find me early, as my complete package was received well before their early action deadline–hopefully they’ll treat their decisions on this basis. I was informed decisions will be released beginning on October 1st; good luck to all those ensnared in this anxiety-inducing process.

Nole, if you don’t think that’s helpful I don’t think you’re a student at any CU school.
