I applied on Dec. 1 my application status was last updated on Dec. 28 and has been in full review ever since! I'm getting worried as the end of march is near.

I'm a Korean WA resident

GPA: 3.58 unweighted. I had one bad semester in sophomore year (2.95), but I got a 3.9 the end of my junior year.

Classes: only 1 AP (Calculus) which i am taking right now. Wind Ensemble (honors), 4 years of science, 3.5 years of social studies, 5 years of math, 4 years of english, 3 years of spanish.

SAT: 1750/2400

Activities: Praise/Worship band leader (4 years), Vacation Bible School volunteering for 4 years (approx 70 hours a year), Drum Lessons (2 years), Garage Band (2 years), Tennis (2 years)

Essay: #1 mission trip to San Bernardino, Ca.---#2 Grandmother being adopted during the Korean War by an American soldier. Both were pretty decent.

I would very much appreciate some insight, but please be honest. thank you

Your statistics seem Ok. A friend of mine got accepted last week with a 3.6 and 1600 SAT. I would probably call them if you don't hear back until April 1.

It seems your stats are fine, but anything goes...

I got rejected from UW last year with these stats:

Korean WA resident + legacy (my father is a UW alumni).
Application sent mid-December.
GPA: 3.6 unweighted
No AP. A few Honors.
SAT I: 1970/2400
Activities: Badook teacher for a church Korean vocational youth program (volunteer) for a year, orchestra for a year, youth group team leader for two years, Tae-Kwon Do (though I only put down one since I quit into Sophomore year) and a few more I can't remember.
Essay: Both were decent, had it reviewed and got good feedback.

I'm sure a few here remember my ranting disappointment threads back then since I thought i was a shoe-in :p. I even got my rejection letter on April 1st of all days, lol. Anyways, it didn't matter much as I was heavily considering on a gap year, and the rejection just sealed the deal (I didn't want to go to WSU either...).

I re-applied this year and got accepted with pretty much same stats (I forgot to add in last year's app that I was a medical transcriptionist for my dad's hospital. Also, my GPA went up by .19 because I made up a bad-grade in a class <-- this could have made the difference.) Actually, I sent in my application later than I did last year as well ^^;. Simply said, it left me with the impression that UW's admissions can be a bit random.

You should be able to get in though. Best wishes!

Well, like I said, I got a bad grade in one of my classes. Still, even with the bad grade, a 3.6 is a 3.6, so it really did shock me that I got rejected back then. Also, myUW posted that he/she also knew of someone who got rejected with a 3.6 (and didn't say anything about getting a bad grade or whatever.) You can't deny the fact that UW's been getting harder and harder these recent years....

But still, no matter, I'm accepted this year and will probably go (to UW) :). The gap year was also a fantastic experience, so I really don't have much regrets over what happened then.

Just offering my two cents. Also, I do think that my rejection was a bit of an extreme, so I highly doubt that the OP will get rejected with those stats, especially since I know a lot more people who got accepted (and some with lower stats) than rejected.

does anyone know how they send out acceptance letters around this time of the month? I noticed earlier that they sent out floods of letters every two weeks or so, but lately some people have been getting them randomly.

You should have taken as much AP courses offered at your school (not like music theory). The admission officers do look at your school courses a lot. They might have liked AP History since it is considered to be the hardest AP course.

I got my letter sent to one of the twins at my school (it's weird that I'm a twin too) and she sent it back. It's odd that I got mine early compared to the people who sent it before I did.

Your situation is very very similar to mine last year and I got in, the essay about mission trip mine was in LA, vacation bible school, same tennis, nearly identicle SAT's I hear they don't count the writing section don't know if that hurts or helps.

A difference is in race which me being white probably didn't help or hurt while you being Korean probably will also be neutral because Korean is one of the more comon minorities. It probably will come down to the fact your GPA was 0.25ish better that mine but I took a more challenging 5 AP and plenty of honors. Depending on you essay especially the mission trip one you will likely be one of the last accepted or the first rejected. Your only real flaw is the light workload, good luck though.

I regret applying priority. My friends told me that it makes a difference if you apply early, but since my file has been under full review for 4 months with no reply, I realize that I could've just made my whole application file a lot better by turning it in a month and a half later.
