This thread is doing new and “interesting” things - putting responses into a “best of” category and others not. Hence, the posts are not in time sequence. Very confusing. Please don’t tell me this is a new format that will be applied to CC as a whole.
Adding @CCadmin_Sorin
Yes, thanks @doschicos . I am wondering what’s going on there too. I just had a notification that said the poster of the thread linked “accepted” my “answer to a question”.
Yesterday, I also noticed that in the top left, where latest posts, activity, bookmarks, etc…are listed, there was a new option that was called Unanswered, with a number next to it, such as you would see next to My Drafts, etc… I clicked on it, and there was a new post with no answers yet. Today, Unanswered has disappeared. What’s going on @CCadmin_Sorin ?
Yes - the new format of “answers” and “best answers” changes the game quite a bit. Responses get put out of order and sometimes no longer make sense. I guess moving away from a "discussion’ format to a “just answer the question” approach.
Ok, I thought it was just me
If the idea is that this is going to be the new mode, I highly recommend that idea be re-examined.
Thinking maybe it is limited to threads where college and high school students are looking for advice? Maybe an attempt to filter responses that might compound an already problematic situation? We have all seen responses that are less than helpful and in some cases outright hostile to the student. Given the age bracket perhaps there are good reasons to attempt to buffer some of those comments.
Just a guess on my part.
We’ve implemented a new functionality for our FAQs forum. I’ve reverted that thread back to normal. Thanks for reporting!
Moving to a “just answer the original question” vs an ongoing conversation in the post threads would dramatically change the site. Hoping this isn’t going site wide. Hive mind responses are the best part of CC – but you need ongoing interactive posts to get to a full picture/complete answer.
Here’s another thread with a gremlin: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/20885577#Comment_20885577
My answer is #0. I also had a notification that my answer was “accepted”. Not digging this, for reasons already mentioned. @CCadmin_Sorin
I’ve reverted that thread back to “normal.”
Can someone please explain this new “accepted” status? I got it again on a post today, but have no idea what it is. @skieurope or @CCadmin_Sorin ?
I’m deferring to @CCadmin_Sorin @intparent
The posts seem out of order in this thread I was just reading.
@CCadmin_Sorin ?
I changed the thread from “Q&A” to “Discussion” - the site is now automatically calling any thread with a question a “Q&A” thread and makes things weird. But moderators can change them back to “Discussion” threads. Has to do with the new FAQ forum.
