I'm a prospective transfer student for LSA Winter 2009, I'm a sophomore at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. My application was complete on September 8. Assuming that the 4-6 week waiting period for transfer decisions is correct, why havent I heard yet? Its early November now! I know one of my friends who applied a full two weeks after me and she has gotten a decision already..its not like shes more qualified than me or anything, in fact, she has worse stats than me, and she got in! I would like to think the reason behind the delay is because I've turned in more information than required, like 2 professor recs(not required for transfer) and a personal letter. Seriously, I've called the admissions office so many times that they recognize me by voice. I dont want to sound like a jerk, but the people who take the calls are utterly incompetent(I think they're students), it seems as though the people on the college discussion forums actually know more about the admissions process, which is the reason im posting this thread.

So my question is, what would be some other possible reasons for the delay? Are they just doing this in spite(just kidding), or am I just being paranoid?

And another questions that I have is, would it matter if I transferred to different departments? To further explain- I am currently enrolled into the business school at my current university, and since I am applying for LSA instead of Ross, would that really matter in the decision process(I have 34 credits, working on 16 this Fall)?

I would really appreciate anyone willing to give me advice/information on this issue.

cheers.
