What's Good

So..what's good about Penn? Anything. I'm just curious of what you all think?

Wharton, Philly Cheesesteak, Philadelphia etc

Everything. Seriously. My complaints are minimal. Almost everyone here LOVES it. Newsweek rated it "Hottest Happy to Be Here" School a few years ago and it's so true...very very few people transfer out.
-Professors: Almost all passionate and helpful. Sometimes in large intro courses they won't be that great, but you'll find that at most schools.
-Classes: It's easy to get into the classes you want and the selection is incredible. You could take a class on almost anything.
-Social Life: For the caliber of school it is, there's a great social life. If you want to go out 4 or 5 nights a week, if you want to be really involved in the arts, if you want to sit around and watch movies..whatever, the student population is diverse enough that it's easy to find your niche.
-Philly: Great city for college. I can't say I'd want to live here later in life, but right now it's perfect. There are A TON of amazing restaurants. I can't emphasize that enough. There's a lot of cultural things going on dowtown, as well as many bars, clubs, etc. If you're into sports, there's that. And, side note..the police in West Philly are extremely lenient with students.

Not so great:
-On Campus Housing and Food. The dining halls suck and the only decent housing is the quad freshmen year (although some would argue that the highrises are worthwhile). On the bright side, there is a great selection of off-campus housing- gorgeous old houses west of campus and nice apartment buildings like Domus and the Radian (as of next year).
-This personally doesn't bother me, but I've heard complaints about the intensity of the school. Penn students do everything to the extreme- they work hard all week and play hard all weekend. Also if you're very shy, it may be difficult to make friends at first. Everyone is very friendly, but, because there are so many people, if you're not willing to put yourself out there you might not find a group.
