What's great about colleges in the east coast?

Make a list about the benefits of going to a college in the east coast for a student currently living in the west coast.

Connections

more prestigious universities to chose from

Snow? Cold weather? :) Getting far away from home is important for many people.

Having lived in a place that gets cold weather and snow, I have to say that I can hardly classify this as a "benefit." Nothing quite like having to wear four layers just to go to the store, and having to worry about skidding out driving to work.

I was kidding, thus the smiley face. Why do you think I stayed in the South? :)

Oh...point taken. I've just seen too many posts from naive kids on this forum saying, "OMG! SNOW IS TEH ROXXORS! SEASUNS FTW! LOLOLOLZ!!!"

It makes me angry.

I want to come back to California one day. Do you think Cornell would have good connections for jobs in california?

Honestly? Not as good as you'd get from Stanford, Cal, UCLA, CalTech, or USC.

That's just my 2 yen.

It snows! That's why I really want to go East.

NO...YOU...DON'T. Why don't people from the West Coast understand how much snow sucks to live in? What's so fun about walking to school on frozen sidewalks, and having to shovel the miserable stuff?

NOTHING. Trust me.

sou desu ka.

Un. Sou yo. Samusa wa tanoshikunai yo.

(Yeah...definitely. Cold is not fun.)

This way I don't get in trouble with the mods for typing in some devil language.

MORE. More (good) colleges to choose from, more seasons, and my absolute favorite thing-access to many big cities. For example if you are in Connecticut you are not far from Boston, Providence, NYC, and DC is doable. Drive an hour and a half into Boston, whereas in California you drive for hours and you're still in the same state.
The bad? Sure, I couldn't imagine my life without seasons, but I hate the weather from December-March. Spring is gorgeous as is fall.

there is nothing good about going to east coast for college....i am tired of snow, im have seasonal asthma because of winter, i have a really bad sinus....i would anything to go to west coast...i want to study in a state like ca where its not too hot or cold

Stain,

Believe me, life without seasons isn't that bad when you get to go to class in shorts and a t-shirt in December.

And the East Coast definitely has more big cities, but what's the big deal about numbers of states?

just for the record the whole east coast doesn't get snow...

Snow, ice, rain, misery, it's all the same thing.

What's so great about having to put on 3 layers just to go to your mailbox? :p

I actually go to school in the South from the East Coast (Jersey). I miss snow and seasons. While being able to chill outside in shorts in February is a startling and welcomed change, I do miss playing outside in the snow and snowboarding. Besides, the stuff you do when snow is around such as driving careful and wearing layers becomes second nature after awhile. Snow is amazing.

Vinin,

That's why you live in California. Want snow? Drive up to the mountains. You get a weekend of snow, and no shoveling.
