what's great about East Wheelock?

anyone applying? what's your reasoning?
as for me, i'm still debating.

I decided not to, I initially wanted to, but then I decided that Ill just try the housing mix and see what happens. For me its kinda far from things like the library, frat row, but Im really kinda undecided b/c i dont want to give up the private baths, but whatever I guess I can get over it. LOL. Right now, Im hoping for the Choates, Russell Sage, Gile, or the Fayers, basically anything but the River, lol.

yeah same here! bleh, the River. so basically, freshmen have no say? If we happen to get in to EW, can we decline?

The answer to your question is a matter of personal preference regarding what you want or need your housing experience to be. with only 130 slots for ew, be assured that there are going to be more applicants than space available. Every one who applies does not automatically get in and every one who currently lives in ew does not autmatically get to stay there for subsequent years. There were first years who applied for 2nd year and did not get accepted and 2nd years who lived in other places that applied to ew and will be living there this year.

Just like living anywhere your experience is going to depend on the dynamics of others you are living with. Some floors got along really well and other floors simply co-existed.

You find out if you got into east wheelock the same time that all of the first year students get housing. If you get into ew, that is basically your assignment for the year. The sad harsh reality is that an ovewhelming majority of the first year students are going to be either in the choates or the river.

lol, sybbie... you're making it sound so tragic, "the sad harsh reality" hahaha. i visited all (according to my host at least) freshman dorms and i think choates and river are perfectly fine.

Yeah in my opinion they are a little more to put up with for a lot more fun...

taurustorus,

I don't mean for it to sound sad but I also don't want to see people get too pump up over the living in a certain dorm and then feel let down if they end up in the river or choates.

If you can embrace the though that you will most likely be in the river or the choates if it does happen that way , it's all good. If you end up somewhere else, it's a pleasant suprise.

hey, my kid is living in the treehouses next year so she will be a neighbor to the river :)
