whats happening in Columbia

Just thought I'd let you'all know whats happening around campus.
John Mayer played last week.Billy Joel played Wednesday night.
Barack Obama is speaking at a rally adjacent to campus at the Convention Center right now (S is there). Mitt Romney passed through town last week and Hillary,McCain, etc are all passing through in the next few weeks, due to SC's new prominence on the national poltical scene due to the timing of its primary.
Rascal Flatts are playing soon, and Blue Man Group will be performing next month.
Ringling Bro Circus played recently. The Colonial Center on campus is the biggest venue in SC,thus touring shows/musical acts stop there. The Koger Center gets the touring companies of Broadway shows, S saw "The Producers" for student rush price tkts in the fall.Student Gov't sponsored comic Bob Saget in the Fall for $5 and Ben Folds, also for $5.Don't know if they're sponsoring any Spring concerts.
There are bands and activities in the street (closed off) in front of the Russell House every Wednesday afternoon.
Take a look at the lisiting for Carolina Productions on the USC website for a better idea of what's offered!

OMG! Can I attend USC instead of my daughter!!!!!

Yeah, me too!

I hate having kids in college, it reminds me of how boring life is once you are our age.

one of the reasons I was pointing this stuff out was to show the opportunities that can come from being at a big State U in a fairly big city.

I want to see The Producers!

sorry Nathan,it was a Broadway touring company passing through.
But you'll be able to see whatever passes through next year, and at student rush prices ,too....that is...
if you become a Gamecock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
btw...you are supposed to have great weather next weekend.

someone ought to tell the company to come back...

I've seen many "impressions" of The Producers but I haven't seen the play (or even the movie!).

That being said, I've seen the Blue Man Group - tell your S that they are a must see.

Wow, so much going on there. Exciting, exciting!
