Well said!

Perfectly stated Magnum!

Hear hear Magnum!

Maybe the Dartmouth community should try something along these lines: <a href=“Revel on the Level | Reed Magazine”>http://www.reed.edu/reed_magazine/march2014/articles/features/nightowls.html

Seems pretty simple. Maybe even effective. And, Dartmouth is probably compact enough for such an approach.

Dartmouth has already implemented something like this. It is called the Green Team.

Excellent! Wish they would get some press attention to counterbalance the parade of negatives.

I rest my case your honor…

Wow, did you guys see the snow in Hanover today? Hope it wasn’t a student prank to interfere with finals. A Harvard student posted bomb threats to avoid finals. All kidding aside, I would agree with DartmouthAlum that this is another reason for students to avoid the Ivy League and attend school in Florida or Southern California. Staying in your parent’s basement would also be safer.

Florida’s climate isn’t fit for man nor beast, IMHO. Some of us aren’t afraid of snow. :)

What is this thing you call “snow”? Is it related to the “rain” we used to see here in California?

We have about 16" and it’s still snowing. I’m wondering if we’re looking at Summer Skiing this year. I personally don’t care for heat/humidity having left New Orleans for Hanover twenty years ago.

20’ + in Northern VT - it’s beautiful here.

I heard it stopped snowing today and spring is right around the corner.

Daughter finally gave in and said she might as well embrace the snow…she and 4 other students spent 4 hours and built a full blown 6 ft tall igloo, brick by brick. Actually pretty impressive! I am going up in 3 weeks, hopefully spring will be there by then. [-O<

Hah! I live in Maine, and we still have complete snow cover, complete with an icy crust. In 3 weeks, they might still have the igloo. :)

Actually, Dimensions is usually around April 19th, give or take, and it usually seems to have lovely weather. Things change quickly here in northern New England.

Speaking of the weather, what should I expect for Dimensions on April 11th? Will I be seeing a snow covered Dartmouth?

I didn’t read anything in between the first and last page of these posts. But for a bit of insight: I was very disappointed by the Dartmouth information session. I really really liked the school from the website and other research I’d done. But the guy who did the info session was unpolished, rushed, and lacking in substance. The tour was marginally better (with a different guy), but I still left with a weird feeling. Walking around Dartmouth, everyone kind of felt like pod people. Hanover is a fairly small city, and yet all the kids on the campus were walking around in Dartmouth sweatshirts. Which I’m sure means absolutely nothing, but I quite literally felt like I was in a sea of green.

Aside from maybe Brown and Penn, Dartmouth seems to me like the fun/party Ivy. The info session and tour guide really emphasized the community opportunities and campus traditions. Although I’m super glad that really smart kids have personalities and enjoy themselves at college, I want an Ivy League education. I would have liked to hear more about undergraduate research abilities, jobs and internships, and students doing awesome things with their education and opportunities.

That said, I still applied because one lame info session didn’t completely cancel out all the personal research I’d done. Plus Hanover is adorable and one of the top ranked cities in the country. And I know Dartmouth still is a great school. I think maybe they’re just trying too hard to be like…less pretentious than HYP?

@PTDC18 - I sure hope we won’t have snow by mid-April but this winter has unusual, even for NH, re: the amount of snow we’ve had and how cold it’s been. I live in Hanover and we still have a lot of snow on the ground. I’d expect there still to be snow by April 11 but hopefully it will be melting by then.

@brokenandhealed: Were you there when the college was in session or when everyone was away? I wonder if all the people you saw wearing Dartmouth sweatshirts were visitors/prospies. About the only time I recall seeing everyone wearing green was homecoming/the bonfire. (Smile) Trust your research. Dartmouth offers great opportunities. D is currently trying to choose between 3 of the top 10 [2 are in the top 5 and maybe the third as well] programs in her field for grad school. It doesn’t get much better than that.

@AboutTheSame School was in session. It was early April of last year. But yeah, I still think Dartmouth is a great school, and if I am accepted, I will be very blessed. :)
