I'm interested in Goizueta, but I'm not sure about the geographical location of Emory. What's Atlanta like? As in, what's the social life like, what places are there to go to off-campus, how's the weather, is it safe, etc.

Weather: Typical east coast temperate. Winters are shorter and wetter than Boston. Snow is slight and skies are gray. Most winter weather hazards come from overnight freezing of rain. Fall and Spring are beautiful. Summers are terribly hot.

Safety: This is a big city and it has its high crime areas. Emory is in a good area. Common city sense keeps you out of trouble.

Night life: Plenty of activities in all price ranges. Dance clubs from hip-hop to indy rock to country/western. Top notch music scene. Comedy clubs abound. Professional sports well represented. High museum of art gets all the national art exhibits and they also have a long term arrangement with the Louvre. The food scene is good, but not NYC. Restaurants from a spectrum of cuisines are available but are spread out through the city.

The one Achilles heel of the city is its lousy public transportation. The city deserves and needs an extensive metro system. MARTA is a beginning but not an answer. Hence, any college student that wants to take advantage of Atlanta will need a car.

Atlantic Station, Phipps, and Lenox malls. High Museum of Art, CNN, World of Coke, Georgia Aquarium, Stone Mountain Recreation area, Lake Lanier, basically a little bit of something for everyone here. And lots of sunshine all year long!

Shuttles from Emory do take students to places in Atlanta - last weekend was Atlantic Station
