<p>I started my college list and narrowed it down to 9 so I'm thinking of applying to this one not only is it in southern cali but its by the beach(I think or some water)...I live in the bay area so I probably can't visit soon.Are there a lot of people from norcal going there is no what's like compared to home.And is the student body equally diverse racially because my high school is almost but I like and kinda use to it..I don't think id feel comfortable if there was predominantly 1 race even if its my own.Thanks
And I'm a girl if that affects my experience b/c my bro is always trying to scare me with these stories of rape from certain colleges I was thinking of going to but I'm sure it could happen at any college.

<p>There are plenty of NorCal people at UCSD, I think out of all the people I’ve met, it’s been about half NorCal and half SoCal. In terms of diversity, I would say UCSD is about average for a public California school. The largest ethnic groups are Asian at 45% and white at 25%.</p>
<p>UCSD is a pretty safe school, since it’s in La Jolla which is one of the safest cities in California. However, there are some rare cases where you should exercise caution. If you’re going to be walking around campus late at night, try not to walk alone. You can even call a number and they will escort you around campus for free.</p>
<p>People shouldn’t walk alone late at night regardless of city. La Jolla is an exceptionally safe city, but that doesn’t mean crime can’t happen there or anywhere else.</p>
<p>Lol thanks everyone but I guess its safer to walk w/ppl at any college esp big ones during night or when its dark outside…but I don’t think id worry b/c I’m not scared to walk outside at night except near busy streets because cars make u-turns and slow down(for some reason I feel safer waking in parts that aren’t busy because there’s less harm or atleast nothing’s ever happened to me)</p>

<p>I don’t think so? It doesn’t appear on the official list of clubs, and I haven’t heard about it on campus. You can make your own club if you want tho lol</p>

<p>I don’t know if I could sing well but id rather be the backup singer…I was watching singing videos on youtube and there was a guy gruop called ‘UC octet’ I think they’re from berkeley but I’m not sure…I just thought it was so cool how they could sing a song without the music but recreate it.my high school doesn’t have anything like that except choir but I wouldn’t have the guts to start a new club or even know how to </p>
<p>from what i see, it’s mostly asian. but my friend said it’s 50% asian and 50% white/non-asian. i think it’s more noticeable to be more diverse in non-hardcore science classes (or maybe i just happened to pick the lectures with all the asians when i took my bio/chem classes).
seems pretty safe, but i’m always on guard regardless…especially at night.
i think there are quite a few norcal people, i didn’t live in norcal but i was up there for the majority of the year once and i don’t think the weather is too similar. it isn’t hot down here, but i just don’t think it’s as cool/rainy as norcal (i might’ve been up there during the cold/rainy season though…). it isn’t as green as norcal either, imo. i liked all the trees and whatnot up there ;D
don’t be scared by what your brother says, it can happen anywhere. but then again my mom wouldn’t let me apply to uc davis because 20 or 30 years ago there was a serial rapist up there or something… /:
btw, ucsd is right by the beach. like 15-20 minutes. from some buildings you can see the ocean.</p>
<p>I was going to major in something science related but I’ve gotten kinda used to be the minority in the classroom but not the campus. I was looking at the map and San Diego is so close to the border I wanted to go to LA like on a weekend too but it seems so far. But does it rain in southern california during spring/winter?I like having 4 seasons and greenery,that fresh smell of the ground/pavement after it rains. </p>
<p>^ I don’t think we ever get 4 seasons in California, lol. No snow, little rain compared to most other places, generally mild year round. This is especially so at UCSD because we’re so close to the coast. It definitely rains winter/spring, but be prepared for random very warm days in the middle of January and doom and gloom weather approaching summer. I also say “very warm” and “doom and gloom” as a Californian, as in the weather tends to stay between 50F and 90F year round :)</p>
