I was accepted into Lehigh's Integrated Business and Engineering program which is the ideal program for me because I am very interested in business and engineering (business slightly more so than engineering). Yesterday I was taken off the wait list and offered a spot at Emory. While I like Lehigh and the program is perfect for me, I feel like Emory is a better fit in just about every way from student body to location to the vibe I got on the campus. If I went to Emory I'd still be able to study business but would have to give up on engineering. What do you guys think is more important, being in an ideal program or the fit of the school?

Academics of your interest are an important part of fit. How important is studying engineering to you?

I think it kinda depends. Some people know from a very young age what they want to do while other people are less decisive on what they want to do. I feel like most people wind up changing their major in college and an even higher percentage get a job in something different from what their degree is. I could be reading into this a little but the fact that you are even considering switching into Emory over your previous ideal academic interest shows that there is a little flexibility in your decision. Just something to keep in mind.

It’s hard to say how important engineering is because I’ve had such little exposure to it in high school. I’ve always had my mind set on business and just recently I’ve been considering engineering, and its a shame engineering is really all or nothing, its so intensive and only offered in an undergrad setting there aren’t many opportunities to study other fields in depth.
