What's more respectable-

^^My cousin’s husband has a PhD in physics. Does that qualify me to join the relative w/ a physics PhD club?

Anyway, I’d say the PhD is more impressive since it’s rarer. As far as respectable they’re both pretty tops.

Also, some ppl go to med school just because they’re not really sure what they wanna do. And it pays well. With the guy with the PhD in physics, you know he was in it for the physics–not the money. So it more definitively demonstrates a sincere interest, as well as talent, in the subject.

My dad has an MD and a PhD, but I don’t know what the PhD is in -__-

Say what?!

I’d say a PhD just because it’s entirely devoted to and focused on physics whereas an MD implies 1 part physics, 1 part medicine.

a PHD in physics is more respectable.
A MD is impressive too but the concepts involved in an advanced physics degree are much more difficult than medicine.
But it does depend on the physicist’s concentration as well–theoretical physics, nuclear, etc
