Hi all,
I visited Babson not long ago and immediately feel this is the one that I want to go. I dreamed long to start my own business (though I haven’t really tried anything), and Babson is the right one for me to reach my goals.
My stats: ---------------------------
Asian boy, senior year
Academics:
- GPA: 3.36 (weighted)
- SAT: Math 670, Reading 710, Writing 710 (super scores)
- ACT: 30
- AP junior year: Physics, Psychology, Chinese,
- AP senior year: Microeconomics, Environmental Science, Human Geography
Sports - fencing
- US Fencing Association top-ranked fencer (A)
- Won national medal once in 2014 in national championship (the highest national event)
- High school team captain
- Varsity member and starter since freshman year
- Helped team win state championship twice (past two seasons)
EC:
- Finished 9-year Chinese language education (with Spanish as foreign language in high school)
- Obtained a certificate of HSK 4th Level (issued by the Chinese Government Language Council International)
- Volunteer:
- Camp counselor (2015, 2016): Helped children with muscular dystrophy diseases to engage in a variety of activities
- Various community services, fund raising
- Working experience:
- Tutor: Chinese-English tutoring, 2015~2016
- Intern: Wrote VBA/Python script to automate business invoice generation from orders and raw data
I spent lot of time in fencing, hoping it could help my college. Unfortunately Babson does not have a fencing team.
I know my GPA is low, and so are my test scores (as an Asian boy). I looked up in my high school Naviance chart, all previously accepted applicants had higher GPA than mine. But I’m really not good at school work or taking exams, although I believe I’m quick on learning things and getting things done.
This is why I’m asking my chance here.
BTW, I’m also considering Brandeis and visited there too. I feel that I have a good chance to get in from talking with their coaches (because of my fencing records, I guess).
I’m pretty sure I will get good recommendations, I’m working on my essays and have scheduled an interview with a Babson admission officers in two weeks.
I’m planning to do ED, do I have a good chance to get in?
Thanks a lot for hints/comments!
