What's my chance?

Hello all,

I am an international student [from Brazil] who is currently applying for University of Michigan (Aerospace Engineering) and others. At this moment, I would like to hear from you whether it is likely or not for me to get admitted at UofM.

My ECs are:

● Private pilot student, able to fly single-engine airplanes (15 logged flight hours);

● ‘Virtual airline’ (Redirecionando...) manager; in charge of organizing seminars about aviation and teaching flying concepts (since 2007);

● Instructor of an aviation based online course offered worldwide (known as IVAO). In charge of teaching mechanics, aerodynamics, meteorology, etc. (2008-2010).

● Graphic designing (since 2007);

● Video production; productor of advertising videos (since 2008);

● R/C planes flying and building;

● Cycling; participate on local events;

● Music student (violin).

● Math/Physics tutoring (algebra, geometry, pre-calc and general physics)

Rank: 1/43
SAT I: 670 CR, 780 M, 680 WR
SAT II: 800 Math II, 800 Physics
TOEFL: 105

I highly appreciate any consideration of my posted data to give me an insight about "expected" admission decision.

Thank you for your attention so far.

Sincerely,
Sandro Rodrigues

Anyone? 10char

Even though you are international, your ECs are so impressive. I’ve always wanted to be a pilot, so jealous. I believe you have a good shot, your SATs are great, your rank is phenomenal and you’ve accomplished a lot in your life! Do you have a GPA in Brazil?

Nah, we don’t. Still, the arithmetic mean of my grades in high school was 92/100. Thank you so much for your insight!

Your average score is impressive. I don’t want you to get your hopes up, but if you were a U.S. citizen, you would most likely get in. The only thing that may hinder your chances is being an international. Do you require financial aid?

No, I don’t require finaid.

That may help your chances a bit. Well in terms of test scores you are strong, as these are the average ranges for UofM.

Percent of Applicants Admitted: 50%
Test Scores – 25th / 75th Percentile
SAT Critical Reading: 590 / 690
SAT Math: 640 / 740

I think you have a great shot. Just remember to write good essays!
