What's my chances at a BA/MD program?

Also, i'd like to know my chances anywhere, ivies in particular, northwestern, UCLA, UCB, UCSD (med program, USC (med program) and stanford.

Here's my Stats:

heres the part i hate.
SATs: 1870, i improved 170 points from 1700 .. hah
havent taken any SATs II i will tomorrow and its US, Bio, and IIC.

so um.. do i still have a chance at a BA/MD program, i hear theyre really competitive.. and also what are my chances to well
..anywhere prestigious.. with those SAT scores?

The average SAT score at most BA/MD programs is in the 2100s at the lowest.

You'll likely get rejected from the Ivies and Stanford because of your SAT score.

Alot of top schools don't even offer a BA/MD program.

However, your class rank and the lack of affirmitive action might allow you to get into some realy good UCs.

i have to tell you the truth, most of these ba/md programs require you to have 1460 comined for math and verbal. THat is the minimum. Who knows what the true average is.

USC doesn't require that. My friend got a 1270 on her SAT and she's in...it's about who you are....not what the numbers say you are

really. When did she get into USc, like last years, 5 years ago?

That SAT score might not even get you into the very best UC's to tell you the truth. Your matches are probably UC Merced, UCSB, UCSC. Slight reaches UCI and Davis. I think you'd have a good shot at many of the schools you want to go to if you significantly improve your SAT score. Gluck!

last year so you have hope

yay4college:

are you freaking kidding me?

she has a 4.0 UW and 1/573something class rank

good EC'S

its an 1870. yeah, low. but not that low. if it were 1900+ I would say UCLA and UCB are high matches at most. seriously.

your weighted must be through the roof!

if you had a 2000+, you should consider better schools. JHU or Cornell or something like that. check out good ba/md programs, bettter your sat's, and then post. you have amazing stats [minus the test score]

ucsd. ucla if you're lucky.

the rest? i highly doubt it. there will be people with better stats than yours and with more unique and stronger ec's/awards. having a perfect gpa is good, but the difficulty of coursework and school is also taken into account.

0 Chance with scores like yours. You do not fulfilll admission requirements. Sorry if I sound harsh. Bring those scores up to 2250+ (minimum for a lot of ba/md programs) and then you can start considering even applying.

Take the ACT?

hikaru2005-
I hate to tell you this, but admissions officers look at a lot more than just SAT scores. They look at class rank, extra curriculars, difficulty of classes, IB/AP test scores, personal experiences and your admissions essays. I personally know someone who is at Princeton right now and she got in the 1200s on the old SAT. This goes to show that the SAT is not everything. Also it is said that minorities are discriminated against on the SAT so this could be a reason why she had a low score. In my opinion, if she is doing everything that she can and taking advantage of every opportunity that she has, she might have a chance to get into an presigious school or into a BA/MD program. It is extremely rude of you to say that she needs to bring up her SAT score by several hundred before even CONSIDERING applying.

tinaaaw:

UCB/UCLA: Match
UCSD: Safe Match

okay sorry i didn't notice the rank.. and for BA/MD programs its true that scores aren't everything- but they DO matter a lot. And the extracurriculars are good- but not that strong. The essays for these programs usually require you to explain WHY you want to become a doctor and WHAT you have done to show that ... and from just scanning those extracurriculars... i really can't say that there is much to do with science/medicine unless the OP can write a compelling essay abt something they have done thru those clubs

btw kat... asian ppl are NOT minorities when it comes to college.. TRUST me

Being 1st out of a class that size makes you tied with a good 20 other people. Take the ACT and retake the SAT if you can. That score does not reflect your grades and courseload.

kat11589 - You are being ignorant. Hikaru2005 is right since you cannot even
apply if you do not reach the minimum SAT requirement for BA/MD.
You probably never heard of the program, but BA/MD have strict
testing and GPA requirements that they look at before even looking
at extracurriculars or possibility for an interview. I think it is rude
that you are criticizing others without knowing what you are talking about.
