what's necessary for transferring to berkeley?

Hi. I am planning on applying to berkeley next fall, but I'm not really sure what's necessary. The site says there's no need for SAT's, but is that true? Do we need Recommendation letters, Highschool transcript, Personal Essay, or anything? It also stated that we needed to take an American History class. Is that true? Thanks in advance.

No, you do not need to take the SAT and you do not need recommendation letters.

However, you do need to send in your highschool transcript sometime shortly after you are accepted..sometime in early June. And yes, you do need to take an American History class...I'm not sure if it's required before you transfer (even though I would recommend it), but it defintely is required before you graduate Berkeley.

Best of luck to you...

Olivera, I suggest you go onto admissions websites--you still have the very basic information to go over before you come in here with questions.

High school record is irrelevant.

so even two Fs in the second semester of senior year...won't matter when applying to berkeley? (not that i have that, but just in case i decide totally give up if it doesn't matter) lol

No, it doesn't matter. You can receive Fs in the rest of your classes..you can even drop out of high school..and it doesn't matter. All you need is 60 UC transferable units..that's it. Get the best grades you can in those classes and you have a great shot at getting into berkeley.

thanks tallkell now i can get a D in precalc without worrying about it too much

I graduated highschool with a 2.2 gpa. I'll be attending berkeley this fall; highshool grades aren't important.

awww u guys...this is great...i'm SO not studying for that stupid test...EFF LIMITS (for now...although i'll still pay attention in class bc i'm sure i'll need the basics to succeed in real calc lol)

"No, it doesn't matter. You can receive Fs in the rest of your classes..you can even drop out of high school..and it doesn't matter. All you need is 60 UC transferable units..that's it."

You should graduate high school.

well yeah. that is for sure...i mean my high school gpa isn't all that bad. its a 3.0.....its just this last semester is becomin really hard to focus...knowing that nothing counts for *...the only class i need to bother with is econ..and i'm totally acing that *.

Also, keep in mind that getting good grades in community college isn't necessarily easy. You should keep at things so that you are prepared for community college.

I never graduated high school and I don't regret it for one minute.

Limits shows up once in a while throughout calculus so you might as well learn the limits now.

thanks guys..i'll keep it all in mind

sooo...can you transfer after one year?

u need 60 units, so probably not esperame

when you say 60 units, does AP credit count?
