A little over 15 years ago the main thing on my bucket list was that I wanted to get to all 7 continents, and at the time I had only been to 2. I’ve now done 6 continents and look forward to my last one, Antarctica, which will probably be my retirement gift to myself (too many years in the future!).
I don’t know if it’s necessarily a bucket list item, but for years I’ve dreamed of doing a dude ranch experience (kind of like City Slickers). I would love to see the Northern Lights, and came close to going to Alaska to see the Iditarod, but life happened and that’s now further down the path for me. I’ve heard about the 360 club, but I don’t think I’m ever going to get to one of the poles to actually do it myself, but if I do, I will . I would also like to learn how to downhill ski, at least well enough to go down a hill a couple of times to see if I want to repeat the experience. I would love to revisit the country where my dad was from, but political instability has caused multiple attempted trips to be cancelled. Hopefully it will be safe enough for us to go before the kiddo gets to college.
There are so many places that I want to travel to that I can’t really call it a bucket list, as I may not get to them all. But Cambodia & Vietnam, Egypt, eastern Europe (particularly, Krakow), Morocco, some of the west African countries like Senegal & Benin, Timbuktu, Great Britain (Scotland, Wales, northern Ireland) and Ireland, etc are some of the international destinations. And I’ve been to some of the national parks, but there are so many more I’d love to see. And I’d like to visit Calgary, Albertville, and Lillehammer for their Olympic sites. And the retirement trip to Antarctica will include going past the Chilean fjords and then finishing up by Buenos Aires and seeing Iguassu Falls, too. And that doesn’t begin to cover places I’ve already visited but wouldn’t mind returning to.
Oh dear. I better keep earning money and saving my pennies!
