Whats places can I possibly get into?

Hi guys, so I was a lazy kid during my High School years and now that has translated to a 2.5 GPA. (I have been doing better these past few semesters. Late Junior year and so far this Senior year I have been getting A's and B's, so I've been trending upwards) I did get a 1700 on my SAT (550 writing, 550 math, 600 Reading) but I expect that to increase as my tutor has helped me achieve 620-660 on my practice tests on math. So I really do think I can get 1800+.

Now I have thought of some schools, but I was only thinking near my home area. (PA, NJ, NY, CT) However, I've decided with my family that going around the country is okay. However, we don't know many schools in the west, north, and south. Although, I'd prefer no southern schools honestly unless they were good schools.

I know I won't be going to a top-tier college or even a very good middle-tier, but I want to get the best college I can get. I just need help finding good colleges that are a possibility for me to get into.

I would prefer a larger school, and in an area of 20-40 thousand per year. 50+ might be a little too much, but if its a good school my parents might allow it. I also live in New Jersey so in-state discounts would apply for NJ schools. If the school is around 2-5 thousand people, I don't think I'd be all that interested unless its a "must-go" school. If you know majors, I'm leaning towards the medical route. (I know my GPA is low for that kind of major, but my Dad did worse than me in High School and he's a successful dentist himself, so if I work hard like him I know I can pull it off.)

I don't have any interest in Community College either. If I were to do something of that nature I would take a gap year in a school in Israel and get good grades and transfer to a school in America. That's what my cousin is doing, I'm definitely thinking about it, but I do want to get into a school I like in America to try and avoid that if possible. It wouldn't be the end of the world though.

I don't need any "Should've done better in school" or things of that nature. Not really what I need right now :) Thanks for the help guys and gals!

You could go to a branch campus for a year and transfer into pitt or penn state.
