What's Preview Like?

What do you do at Preview? What is expected? What do you bring? I go in 2 weeks. Not really sure what to expect.

16th/17th preview?

Try to figure out your schedule before you go, so you don’t have to rush your decision.

20/21 AA-HS preview.

@mathsciencedude, thanks!

You go through a lot of presentations to help you decide what you want to major in. I sat through presentations from the Pre-Health committee and the College of Pharmacy. You also get 2 academic advisors, one of them is a randomly chosen professor and the other is a randomly chosen upperclassmen. These two will make sure that the schedule you make for yourself is realistic. That is, they determine whether or not you have the capability to do the workload. For me, I had a strong background in biology so I was one of the few who was not denied the chance to take bio in the fall. You also will get campus safety presentations, intramurals presentation and a extracurricular presentation. Most people brought along a pillow. The funny thing was UF provided blankets and pillows for your stay in Preview. So these people had to carry a lot of unnecessary stuff over the course of two days. Bring a photo identification. Either your passport or drivers license. You will not be able to check in to Preview without one. If you don’t bring one, they charge a fifteen dollar fee to reschedule. With this photo ID, you make a Gator1 card. This serves as UF’s photo ID, a debit card, meal payment, free sports registration, free extracurricular lessons, etc. Furthermore, you also need the passport/drivers license to make a Wachovia banking account. This account is where all your scholarship money goes. I would also bring some snacks because lunch (and possibly dinner, depending on which group you were assigned) will be very late.

there are also secret ritual meetings to initiate you into the cult of the gator nation.

I agree with what olivercn4 said.

Bring photo ID, a little cash, and comfortable shoes. A bag is provided for you, but it might be a good idea to have a way to store business cards.

Also bring flip flops to wear down the hall to and from the showers.

Make sure you bring your G8R Done form too.

Bring a hoody because that Grand Ballroom gets beyond cold

Here right now. Boring but informative. Good place to meet people.

Oh my gosh… Thanks everyone. ya’ll rock! Look forward to meeting you guys… :-)

I’m going to the same Preview session :)

The scholarship money goes to the wachovia account? Can it link to an existing NON wachovia account? Im fine with my bank of america one…

Definitely second bringing shower shoes and a hoodie! you’ll be so glad you did

You don’t have to take a shower–it’s just one night.

i didn’t take a shower and sorely regretted it.

I didn’t take a shower and didn’t have any issues.

What did you sorely regret?

Yeah, what did you regret??

idk i just felt gross the next day. no biggie, but if i had to do it again i’d have showered.

i might have stayed up late the night before and not gotten much sleep, making me feel especially gross. i don’t really remember.

Do they give you a roommate for that one night or is everyone in separate rooms?
