What's Preview Like?

You’re assigned a roommate for that night. When you go in line to receive your keys, the person in front or behind you could be your roommate.

Try & meet someone in the morning so you can have a good roommate for that night. You won’t pick & check till dinner time.

Alternatively, if you get a really awkward roommate, you could just pack up your stuff and move to your floor’s linen rooms. There’s a lock, A/C and linens! XD But only to be used in extreme cases.

My Preview…
I met people I don’t see anymore. Well, I did meet a girl in my sorority, but we don’t get on too well so that can’t really be valid/count.
The advising for pre-health is sucky and my advisor was an art history professor. My preview guide was an advertising major. -__- Well, I made it through all of the hell that is freshman year regardless!

i assume they do this at all preview sessions: if they talk about having a party in broward’s basement, go to it. its kind of lame, but i thought it was pretty fun. don’t stay up too late though.

Anyone know if they’ll accept a HS student photo id for preview?

Better call and ask.

If you guys want to worry about Preview a little more, I found a cockroach in my room. :D

@mizaybabe: I would be safe and bring your driver’s license or permit for better identification.

@jaredk: Wow, are you serious? I was fortunate enough not to have an encounter with one. Although I remember someone saying that you shouldn’t be surprised if you found them around the residence halls.

Is it better to take a shower in the morning of Day 2 or at night on Day 1?

If you want less people around the bathroom then I suggest taking it the night of Day 1. There’s a party downstairs and most people are there so take advantage of that and shower unless you want to be at the party. It’s not particularly crowded in the morning of Day 2 though from my own experience.

Jaredk–Have you seen the movie “Joe’s Apartment” with the barbershop roach quartet?
I grew up in Florida so roaches (simple fact of life–no biggie) don’t bother me (keep a shoe handy…)

Thanks for all of the insight.

I go on Monday… sounds like it will be an adventure…

Never seen it, gouf. I really need to learn to kill them…I got someone else to do it, lol.

And yeah, if you go shower at like 6:30 there’s no one there.

can anybody tell me if I have to do the math and Chem placement tests…I have AP score on both (5/4)…what about preview prep online…?
Thanks

Do they need the official score reports for AP? I don’t get this years tests until July, and I can’t find last years reports, but I know what I got for all of my tests; is this going to be alright?

@telecom543: If you already have your scores for them then I suggest you bring documentation of what you got, but I think UF still wants you to take the placement exams. I know I had to for math even though I’ve already taken AP Calculus. Oh, and if you do preview prep before preview, it’ll make your life a lot easier since they use the information you provide there to help guide you to choose classes as well as make yourself aware of any holds you’re on before registering for classes.

@Pseudorandom: Your should’ve written on your AP exams that you wanted the scores to be sent to UF. It’s okay if you don’t have official score reports on hand when you go to preview. I didn’t have them either. Just know what you got on each exam and an approximation of what you got on this year’s exams when you do preview prep.

Did you need a calculator when you took the math placement exam??

Kjinguyen…

I passed AP Calc AB last year and have the score report collegeboard sent last summer in the mail. I wouldn’t have to take the Math placement test would I, as my score isn’t predicted?

@reyes003: A calculator is provided on the ALEKS page which is where you will be taking the math placement exam.

@ZapadniyRus: The AP credit you received may be used as placement into a calculus course in UF, but the UF Mathematics Department strongly recommends students to take the math placement regardless of AP scores in order to assess your current knowledge and how it fits into the UF cirriculum.
