What's so bad about hill?

i just checked my housing…i’m in hill on the 2nd floor (don’t know if i got into the med res program)…

but, reading one of the other posts, it seems like everyone hates hill…why? what’s so bad about it?

Hill fifth floor here...

I hear it's only really bad if you get the first floor... but generally, it's supposed to be cramped.

Although I'm thrilled to be in Ware next year I definitely would not mind being in Hill. Its got a ton going for it, as I explained on the room assignments thread. The only downsides to Hill are that there is no AC, the building is ugly, the rooms are small, and its located in a corner of campus, so if your not in SEAS it may be a bit inconvenient.

Cool, fifth floor here too. 564.

What's so bad about the first floor...?

room assignments are already out??

yeah, go to campusexpress.upenn.edu, then housing, then "confirm/cancel" to see your assignment

TeaHelps, u r in the medical res program, aren't u? they said the medical res program is in room 550 - 570 suites. i applied for the program but didn't get in though, still wondering why.

"What's so bad about the first floor...?"

apparently it's called the "dungeon".

all of the windows are tiny, and they have bars through them. just generally "small".

I don't know but Hill was my first choice, I think it'll be great

All Hill rooms I've seen were small. The first floor is supposed to be worst than overall.

The rooms on the first floor are not any smaller than any other floor. However, the nickname "Dungeon" does exist... it's really not terrible (I had lots of friends on the 1st floor and they didn't hate it), but it does seem darker than the rest of the floors, it does have bars on the windows (although the windows are the same sizes as the rest of the building as well), and the floor doesn't connect all the way around as it does on the upper floors (which definitely has its benefits).

I have pictures of my typical Hill double room from last year, I'll post them in a separate thread in a few minutes.

Hill 538 here... Not happy.

I hated Hill (first floor). Bars on the windows like it was a prison cell - blah, I'm glad I'm out. :)

haha, wow. first "i hated hill" (from someone who actually lived there)

valecollegorian, oooh, that's what 5th floor is? I actually wanted the Exploring Philadelphia one but oh well.

I was hill 5th floor last year! It was amazing! :) (anyone 544? ) You are all going to love it, I promise.. It has such an amazing community (I'm living with 7 other people from hill next year), the common areas are the greatest thing ever, and having a dining hall in your building really can't be beat. Get a good fan and you'll be fine without AC.. In hte beginning it was a little hot, but after that, we were fine.

As for res programs 550-570 was the Exploring Philly program last year.

dlindhol: you're actually in one of my good friends from last year's room. It's in the North East corner (if you've been in Hill, it's the one in the opposite corner from the entrance gate).. And the best part is you're one room away from the inside common area on the floor. (I'll post pictures later if I can find some that my friends and I don't look absolutely ridiculous, lol).. I was in that common area and I became best friends with most of the people in it.. it was absolutely the best part of the year :)

Oh ok, so 550-570 is Exploring Philly? Cool, that was what I wanted more than the med one.

Way to be honest, Penn15.

Is it possible to loft your beds? Popular to do at all?
