whats so good about

nike

lacoste

ralph lauren

evisu

BMW

......anything else

HARVARD is a brand name.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Harvard_University_people

it's a name thing.

I have a few friends there who would transfer out in an instant but are unfortunatly bound to that 'harvard' name. sucks for them, really.

because it's harvard.

i would like to know the same...
i would never go to harvard...

"i would never go to harvard"

Its easy to reject something, when you think it will reject you first. I think people bash Harvard far too constantly on CC threads. Obviously, fit plays a critical role but there can't be this many people who would "never go to Harvard". They win more cross-admit battles than any other school.

The school has a lot of money and many of its programs are ranked number 1 or near that.

uh, i hate being in a cut throat competitive environment, I visited and I don't enjoy Cambridge over other college towns esp. the ones that I'm considering for next year, although the student body may be an impressive bunch i receive a snobbish vibe from them which i dont want to be a part of...

no really, i didnt apply. and if offer admission, i'd never go.
just because its ranked first in almost all categories doesn't make it a school for everyone...

i feel the same way as the op...

i was accepted to Harvard, but I also got into Columbia. I am in love with columbia but everyone is pressuring me to go to Harvard because it's name is so well-known and respected (more so than Columbia).

I agree Miche:

After I had applied to Grad School and was beginning to hear back a friend of mine asked me what school was #1 in the field in which I was looking. Harvard of course. It then occured to me that I hadn't ever even considered applying to Harvard. I don't think I would ever want to go to Harvard, even if I had applied and been accepted.

va bene! i assume you go to Cornell?

screw harvard

rice all the way

I m asian btw.

Mich: I go to a small LAC currently. I will be attending Cornell next year. (Masters of Landscape Architecture Program)

It's a self-sustainin cycle...almost
it draws the brightest students in the country, and in turn these bright students draw bright students who want to be in the company of bright students.

Mainly its easier to get jobs right after graduation or even before it because of its reputation.

sccrew big H
Go Stanford, USC, Pepperdine, CMC.
