I am an international student accepted to Mount Holyoke and Vassar Colleges. I intend to go to Law School after graduating. Can anyone share their experience with MoHo? (Vibes, traditions, academics, food, dorm, etc) What’s so special and unique about MoHo? Why MoHo? What made you choose MoHo and not any other college? Also, how are the community based learning programs like at MoHo?
It will help me decide. Thanks!
My daughter did not get into Vassar, but we did visit. I will say they seemed transparent and we have positive thought about Vassar even thought she did not get in. She now attends Mount Holyoke. The reality is, they are very similar. Of all the schools we visited, they are probably the most alike. Pretty campuses, very intellectual vibe, not big into sports, very liberal, and diverse. Vassar, like other previously all Woman Colleges, usually don’t have football or fraternities, which was a plus for my daughter. They have two of the best libraries you will ever see. Great choices, the rest of you question I would have to leave up to current students.
It’s a unique, supportive environment where people can take advantage of to expand their horizons as cheesy as that sounds. The five college consortium is another thing you can take advantage of as well whenever you feel overwhelmed on-campus, which is awesome!
Regarding community based learning (CBL)- there seem to be lots of opportunities for service learning. My daughter took a class with a CBL component and served as a volunteer teacher aid in a local school. She enjoyed it so much she is continuing it this semester as well. You can’t go wrong with either of your choices. I would say the big difference is the obvious one- coed v. women’s college.
