I absolutely fell in love with the school, and it fits me perfectly. I’m pretty sure I’m going to apply early there. My only question is (and I’d prefer if someone who went there could answer this,) what’s life like there as a student? In terms of activities, clubs, social life, etc?
I know a lot about the academics by now, but not as much about what student life is like there. So if you guys could elaborate on that for me, I’d really, really appreciate it :)

Depends on what major your doing really. If you’re an engineering major or one of the tougher science majors you’re going to be pretty loaded with classes and only be able to go out on Friday nights and all of Saturday. Sunday is spent doing hw and studying. Might be kind of a depressing thought but it’s gonna be like that at all good universities.

Anyways there’s a ton of stuff to do if you’re good with time management. There’s a bunch of intramural sports where you play a game usually once a week, a really REALLY nice gym, a bunch of clubs (DJ Club, community service, proffesional-internship focused clubs, ultimate frisbee, Quidditch team, Green Team, ect.). A bunch of soccer, basketball, and hockey games (Hockey is HUGE here) that you can go to. BU frats are ok, and MIT frats are right around the corner. Were also right in the middle of the city so it’s really convenient compared to other schools when you want to go clubbing.

NiklasK- What science majors are you talking about? Would you consider the athletic training/ combined physical therapy program one of those that will be loaded with classes? And what about just regular athletic training major. The first one i am talking about is the advanced AT/PT program ( combined 6 years). Thanks!

I’m planning on taking a prelaw track, and double majoring in journalism and polysci. No intense engineering stuff necessary.

Thanks, guys :)

Current BU freshman here. There’s actually a lot to do, especially if you are in engineering or hard sciences. I am a student in SMG, but our workload is manageable despite our 18 credits first semester. As with most other schools, you have classes in the morning/afternoon and possible club/organization meetings in the late afternoon or night. On weekends, most people head out to parties in West campus or at MIT frats. There’s a lot to do in Boston, but since the MBTA closes so early, its difficult to do much at night. But yes, I love it here since I’m from NY.

I applied to BU ED and I don’t regret it one bit (well … minus the lack of financial aid but … whatever). Student life is busy and fun and although there’s a lot of work it’s totally manageable.

There’s so many clubs and activities. Like honestly, SO MANY. Everyone’s also really friendly and it’s a nice school with a nice atmosphere.

Compared to other schools I think the parties aren’t that great but I’m also thinking about other schools as in state schools … But regardless, they’re still enjoyable.

I am a double major in Economics and Psychology. I actually have plenty of free time despite spending a lot of time doing class work too. If you have decent time management, you’ll probably end up with more free time here than in high school. Class takes up less time per weke to begin with so that’ nice. I’ve been filling a lot of mine up with extracurriculars though, now that I’m a sophomore. It’s busy but fun!

I really love the student life. It’s what you make of it, like any school. If you get involved, you’re going to make a bunch of friends and find a place here. I think that’s incredibly important at a school the size of BU. I have done a lot of stuff through the Community Service Center which has been incredible. You start to make so many connections that you’ll recognize people everywhere you go. I love running into my friends and seeing how they know other completely unrelated friends. A lot of people bond with their floor as well, particularly freshman year in places like Warren, West, & Towers. There are parties if that’s what you want. Particularly during freshman year, the frat scene (probably MIT more than BU) is a popular choice for most. Sometime during freshmen year or afterwards, you generally will make friends and be invited to parties. Like others said, there are TONS of on campus events too though, from hockey games to BU sponsored stuff, so on and so forth. And being in the city, there is plenty to do in general in Boston. And there’s the option of just staying in for movie nights or just socializing. I think there’s a lot more options in general here than most colleges because of the location. I’m very rarely bored.
