I recently got accepted off of the waitlist from a school, so I will no longer be attending the other school I initially accepted the offer from.

How should I go about informing the school that I am not going to attend anymore? Call, e-mail? I'm guessing I shouldn't mention the college I am going to attend in place of it when I talk to them.

Call them, and they may want to know where you are going, but don't feel bad. Remember, colleges understand how waitlists work. If by your not going it leaves a space open for them then they will just go to their WAITLIST!! ;)

Actually, my GC suggested that I send them a letter via fax. Simple, efficient, and official... works well for me. Unfortunately, Tufts had a 600 dollar deposit, which is going to take a bite out of my summer earnings.

either call or look up the admissions email. In the email give your complete legal name, your application ID (if assigned one), your date of birth, your social security number, and your reason for not attending. In the box to title the email, write "Decline SIR" or "WIthdrawing SIR"

write "Decline SIR" or "WIthdrawing SIR"

Be careful about this language; I've only heard "SIR" used in relation to California schools. If the documentation from the school you're withdrawing from didn't use the term SIR, don't use it in the subject line - the receptionist who retrieves the mail may not know what it is. Rather, say something more generic, such as "Withdrawing acceptance" or "Declining enrollment".
