What's the around the minimum unweighted GPA to get into an Ivy League?

Assuming they play a sport that the school is recruiting for? A rough estimate. I know there a lot of factors but just give me an idea.

Google common data set and name of school. You’ll see what percentage of freshman admitted in different GPA ranges. I’ve found these common data sets most helpful for a variety of stats not just gpa. And they do it every year. Interesting to look at previous years too.

Although there is never a stated minimum, the general CC consensus is to try to maintain at least a 3.8 unweighted. However, hooked applicants, such as recruited athletes and URMs, can likely dip down to around a 3.65-3.75 and still have a decent shot.

“Playing a sport the school is recruiting for” and being a “recruited athelete” are two vastly different things. One is a major hook, the other is simply a nice EC to put on your application.

There’s no minimum, for athletes maybe down to 3.6.

Are you being recruited? If no, then it’s irrelevant

If yes, then it depends on how badly the coach wants your skills. Ideally, you’ve got both great athletic potential AND top grades/scores. Coach needs to balance the Academic Index minimum on his/her team. Only X number of kids with Y GPA and Z test scores can come in so the team meets an Academic Index minimum average.

The more valuable you are to a team athletically, the bigger spread the coach is willing to accept in order to have you.
