What's the best college I can make it into with these statistics

Hi, I am a senior and I go to a very competetive HS.My cumulitive GPA as of right now a 2.96. My SAT grades are CR:380 W:540 M:570
My sophomore into my junior year, I became very depressed and thats explains my aweful GPA. I am working hard this term and my GPA should end up to be a about a 3.7 give or take. Will colleges see this as improvement? Or will they think I blew studying off and then tried to make up for it. Also my SAT grades are a dissappointment, I have no idea what happened on the CR. I didn't even do that bad on my PSAT's. I am by no means a test taker, for some reason I can't stay calm during a test. I am going to take the SATs 2 more times as well as the ACT. In the mean time I am going to do some preparation. I don't know if this will help you but I am interested in going into the medical field, I have always done excellent in my science classes. Even if I have to go somwhere for a year or two then transfer to a better school. I would rather not do this but if I had to I would. I just want to get somewhere decent. Thanks a lot for all the help.

anyone have any ideas??

What's your state?

I'm from New Hampshire

cinfid, you plan to go to medical school. My advice would be to pick a school that you like, you can get into, and that's affordable. Going to CC for a year or two is a perfectly reasonable course of action. You'll be taking the basic premed courses wherever you go (2 semesters of bio, 2 semesters of intro chem, 2 semesters of orgo, 2 semesters of calc-based physics, 2 semesters of English), so it's smart to get great grades in these before moving on to a major of your choice- something that's considerably easier to do at CCs or public schools than elite colleges.

I would pay a visit to the high school counseling office and see where past seniors with similar stats were admitted. A state university like UNH would also be a good place to start. Getting a copy of College Board's Blue Book would be the best way to prep for the SAT. You should also read Xiggi's SAT advice.
