Should I take a gap year OR do CC for the fall (2018) and then transfer to a university (FALL 2019)???
I’m graduating in June and I’m now just doing extra classes for my GPA + Taking the SAT & ACT… ( so last minute I know)
I’m now worried about the 2 year foreign language admission requirement
I only taken one year in French 1 (I’m Home schooled) other than that I just need good test scores but will the language requirement give me no chance when applying?
so is one year to a CC the best option or should I take a gap year and apply as a freshman???
I’m just VERY confused on applying!!!
Are you in need of financial aid?
( also I wanted to go to FSU since it’s in-state )
Not all schools have foreign language requirements, however it sounds like you have other prep work to do as well? You haven’t tested and you need to make up for a weak GPA, if I’m reading your second paragraph correctly.
Have you figured out how you are paying for college? Starting community college will make you ineligible for freshman scholarships at other schools.
Do you know what sort of college you want to attend or what you want to study?
There’s really not enough information in your post to be helpful yet. Why don’t you start at the beginning? What is your current academic preparation? Have you done any particular sports or extracurricular activities of interest to colleges?
You can take a summer course at CC in summer which would be equivalent to one year level of FL in HS.
my GPA is standing at a low 3 and I wanted to study Journalism or Social Marketing
at the moment i’m saving up for a whole year and applying for scholarships hopefully that will cover everything
it depends and in the summer I’m going on a mission trip and charity work,
right now i’m just preparing for the SAT and ACT, my goal was to pull my GPA up a bit and good test scores…
I was just worried about the 2 yr foreign language requirement.
So, your GPA sounds well below the 3.75 median at FSU.
I think your best bet option will be to do community college for two years and earn the transfer degree. This will also be the lowest cost option if your parents aren’t helping to pay for college. In two years, you should apply to multiple schools in case you don’t get into FSU, though hopefully your grades will go up as you want them to.
You can run FSUs net price calculator here to figure out how much you need to save up

Freshman receive the best financial aid vs transfers. What schools are you targeting and do they require 2 years of FL? Also look at the transfer requirements for the colleges you are interested in applying? If you have over a certain # of college credits, your HS GPA and test scores will not be required. The opposite is also true, that if you have under a certain # of college credits, you could apply as a Freshman. Everything depends upon which schools you want to apply.
You are home schooled. You can adjust your graduation plan, and finish high school a year (or semester) later. That would keep your freshman applicant status.
Yeah true, but how would colleges view that?
There are some online high school options to take your 2nd year FL - explore them as you can probably fulfill the requirement over the next couple of months if desired.
