Someone please help me rank them! I want it to be social.

well for social it would def. be the res halls. but im afraid those are TOO social.

pretty sure freshmen cant get suites.

plazas are in between suites and res halls. (suites are private)

if you want social you'll want 1. res hall, 2. plaza, and 3. suite.

do you guys recommend plazas? or are they pretty much dead?

i want to be able to make friends easily, but i dont want it to be too loud, what do you recommend?

res halls aren't too social. i lived in a res hall my first year and i absolutely loved it b/c there was always someone there to talk to if you wanted it and, if you didn't, all you had to do was close your door.

plazas are not always "dead." it really depends on the people living on the floor.

yeah .. i'm trying to decide what the best choice would be for me. i AM pretty social .. but at the same time , value my privacy and occasional quiet time .. so i have to figure out whether the residence halls are social but liveable .. not TOO crazy . orrr if the plazas are more social than it seems and it's actually as fun as the residence halls .. hmm .

any input ?

some people i know in res halls say its constant noise till 3 am
others say its pretty quiet but sociable if you want it to be
it all depends which group of kids you're paired with! generally, later in the year, freshmen calm down.

Is the increased cost worth it, in your opinion? (plaza v. res)
Also, are res halls closer or are they similar?
And, are res halls significantly smaller/less private?

it is worth it because its not much more. if you want more space/privacy
they are not closer, it depends which res hall or plaza you're in.
a little smaller, quite a bit less private.

for me, the cost was worth it. i definitely value quiet. however my floor is very social for a plaza... so you never know what you're gonna get!
res halls range from very close (dykstra) to very far (hedrick hall). same with plazas: de neve is close, hedrick summit is far. the suites are both far.
as for size, my room in de neve is a lot bigger than a room in dykstra. i think res hall rooms will tend to be smaller, because they were all built 40ish years ago. the bathroom would obviously be less private in a hall, but as to overall living situation, i don't know.
i love plazas ^_^

i personally think its worth it if only for the bathrooms. i'd hate walking like 200 feet every time i need to use the bathroom, plus lugging all your toiletries back and forth to shower, brush teeth, etc. i also like it because the bathrooms just feel more "homey", whereas the communal baths are like....communal (duh). i mean, it wasnt horrible when i had to do it for orientation, but i'm glad i dont have to go through that hassle every day. but thats just me.

the only good thing about the res hall bathrooms is they force everyone to leave their room, and thus meet and greet more people on their floor in the process.

1) res hall
2) plaza
3) suite
There are quite a few rooms left in Hitch (suite) though.
hehe my room (res hall) has constant noise til 3 in the morning, but if you don't have loud neighbors, like ckings said, all you need to do is close the door for some quiet/privacy.

They clean the bathroom for you daily in res halls, once a week for plazas/suites I think?

Thanks for the responses
x.x Is the noise really that bad?
Ack, I have no idea what to choose now, ah, btw, if you put plaza as your 1st choice, what's the chance that you'd actually get it?

hmm .. there isn't much of a difference in size between res halls and plazas is there ?

and is there a desk for each individual in either ?

i hope so .

Think so, also, what would you rank the suites/res halls/plazas and singles v. triple v. double (and with/without private bath)

i would highly recommend plazas. but it is HIGHLY dependent on the person. i don't like living in a cramped space with too much noise. if you like an environment that is always filled with energy, then you will love reshalls. if you are more mellow, then you will be better suited for a plaza (id recommend sunset).

plazas are a bit bigger. not by a massive amount, but its definitely noticeable that theres more room.

obviously there will be a desk, chair, closet (or wardrobe thingy), and bed for each occupant regardless of room type. that would majorly suck if one person didnt have a desk.

yeah it would .. the reason i asked is bc when i looked at the floor plans for the rooms .. it was a bit unclear how the room was actually set up .. and i couldnt tell if there was 3 desks .. but yeah .

sounds like a fair deal .. i think i'm beginning to lean towards plazas .. even though i am pretty social , i would rather be a little more comfortable and have the private restroom ..

i hope i don't miss out on too much .. i mean , hopefully the girls i live with are pretty interesting and fun .. plus i'll have a few friends on campus , so i can always visit with them as well.

hmmm . so i'm guessing plaza floors are co-ed ?

well triples have a lofted bed and 2 bunked beds. the 3rd desk (and third closet) fit under the lofted bed.

and all floors in all buildings are co-ed. i think they used to have an all girls floor in hedrick hall several years ago (apparently theres a kitchen on that floor too) but they dont do that anymore.
