I've been brainstorming for 2 months now (mostly over summer; too brain-dead and lazy to write) and now I feel like I'm going to be in for hell as senior yr approaches. I haven't started writing essays yet, but I've got some material that I want to use. I'm a very unpredictable writer b/c somtimes I just need 4 hrs at a computer and take off, and sometimes it takes me literally 2 weeks to finish a first draft. So is last Aug/early September still enought time to avoid the senior yr crunch?

if you're applying early, you should be almost done.

if not, I don't see why it wouldn't hurt to start writing. I had to force myself to writing but I got into the groove of it and the words began to flow. Try writing late at night/early in the morning with the lights out...didacticism is easier when you're tired.

now.....................

yes, now is looking good.

now now now now now now now now now now now now now now now now now now

As soon as possible (like now) because that leaves you more time to reflect and improve. It also gives you time to ask other people to look over them

I'm going to echo all the "nows" with a resounding "now".

I beg to differ. The best time to start writing essays was two months ago, when summer vacation started. I assume that you have let that particular train leave the station, so your second-best option is now.

Start asap.
