what's the campus and surroundings of vanderbilt like?

considering that i've never visited there or been remotely near tennesse.

haha i was in the same boat. nah dont worry though. Its in downtown nashville so there are ALOT of restaurants and quaint little stores around the area. A 2 story borders, starbucks on either side of campus, wendys, subway, mellow mushroom, etc. you get the point. Centennial park is just a little ways away and a great place to hang out on a warm day. The bar/club area of downtown nashville is relatively close though a bit tiring to walk to and fro. but all in all there are alot of things going on. Not isolated or anything in the least, though im not sure if that what youre looking for.

well that's kinda what i was looking for, but outside of the campus, are there some trees/greenery or is it just concrete?

uh..i did mention centennial park right? and vandy is a national arboretum how much more greenery do you need?

The campus is beautiful with huge trees, squirrels, chipmunks, birds, etc. - lots of grassy areas and very park-like. You would never guess you are in the middle of a big city when you are in the academic part of the campus. Check out the virtual tour on the website:

Err....this is an awkward question but how out of place would I feel being black and all.....yeah.....awkward....

You wouldn't feel out of place at all. Race/color is not an issue.

Ok thanks!
