What's the closest you've come to dying?

I had malaria when I was quite young.

Nearly drowned once. The memory is probably exaggerated though, I’m sure I wasn’t close to dying, but I do remember feeling, for the only time in my life, sheer mortal terror.

I personally think that I have one of the worst experiences of near death because it was my mother who almost killed me.

She was driving the car and I was three or four years old. Car seats really weren’t that big of a deal back then. So I was standing in the rear seat sticking my head out the window, when my mom in the front presses the automatic button to roll up the back windows. Me, being incredibly tiny, actually got pulled up to the top of the window with my neck being crushed between the still upcoming glass and the top of the window hole. Apparently I struggled with this for about a minute when my sister stopped laughing long enough to realized I had blacked out and gone limp. She yelled at my mom, who pressed the down button, and my limp body fell to the seat. At that age, I might have lasted another thirty seconds or so of constriction of the airway before dying.

I was stung a couple of times by a box jellyfish when I was 6. They are the most venomous animal and one of the deadliest.

Biking

Was passing on the pedestrian crossing
Some guy was going to run the red light but saw me and braked just enough to break my bike but not me

Last Monday.

Almost died at age 1 in India because of terrible infection + stupid doctors giving wrong medicine that only worsened it…

White water canoeing two things

I was paddling over a class 3+ when we tipped and I was caught under the canoe. But I basically through it off of me. Adrenalin haha</p>

Second thing was we got to swim down a rapid. I missed the place to get out of the water at and almost “swam” down a class four. oops

Jeez, there are a lot of times I’ve nearly died. I can’t list all of them here, but I’ll try anyway.

Hm. I almost drowned once. That’s actually what I wrote about for my college essay.

Another time, my brother was horsing around with me on the edge of the subway platform. I fell in and got out in the nick of time.

And then there are all the occasions I’ve jaywalked across Broadway while the light was green. You’re just courting death there.

i almost got run over by a taxi going about 50 mph in a residential area.

and i got into trouble after T__T

I nearly drowned in a pool when I was a young one, before I knew how to swim. My mother saved me.

When I was 8 or so I had a 105 degree fever and bronchitis, but I was pretty much fine after a short stay in the hospital. I still feel bad for the nurse who I threw up on…

got choked when I ate sweets when I was around, ehh, 2 years old. how embarrassing.

around 10 years old. almost killed myself once: jumped off a bridge(because of a bet with friends); there was a railway track right under the bridge, and when I fell to the ground, a train was coming…I believe it was ‘animal instinct’ that gave me power to run for my life…

lesson learned: never ever have bets of whatever kind. :(

So, when I was around two years old, my neighbour pushed me down concrete stairs, I went down from a height equivalent to a third floor. Surprisingly, I was fine.

Got hit by a (jerk on a) motorbike, just received physiotherapy and was fine after that.

Actually none of this is very dramatic stuff, wait just remembered.
When I was eight years old, my mom and brother and cousin and I were in a car accident. It was raining and the driver (mom) slipped at the curve. If there was somebody in the front seat beside her (I wanted to sit there, but was told not to) they would’ve gotten hit by a tree and glass would’ve gone into their skin and they’d have died

When I was around 7 or 8 I used to run in front of cars… coming down our hill… in the rain and see how many times my friend and I could run back and forth until the car had to stop not to hit us. That’s about the closest I’ve ever come. And there was that time I choked on a grape…

^darwin says you should have died so that you wouldn’t contribute your genes to the species.

Pneumonia.

Drowning.
I was 3 or 4 yrs old, and i was brought to this deep pool. I was splashing and waving my arms, and all the while my mom was just watching me with a smile, and holding my little sister. She thought i was having fun when i was really drowning…! -.-

So for those who had near death experiences, did the next day feel a lot better?

The air seem fresher? Food taste better? Or did was it just the same daily routine

I literally got dropped on my head as a baby. Well not dropped, but I pushed through the screen of a window on a third level apartment and the corner of an air conditioning machine cut my head open.
