I'm curious how it corresponds to calculus. Is it a completely different course or does it correspond with calculus? I'm curious because D completed Calculus in her Sophmore year and is currently taking Trig at her new school (junior/senior year) and I thought they were basically the same thing? TIA

It should be the course before precalculus if I'm not mistaken...so that's kind of weird.

Well that explains it. Everything about D's education this year is weird. She is taking her Junior/Senior year concurrently. English 3b and 4b together. We live in CA and she is in school in TX. She also has to take an IBC class? speech class and a government class on free enterprise to graduate in TX. Although we may have odd requirements here in CA, I just am not familiar with them. Math is her best subject so it's not stressing her, just me.

it usually goes trig/precalc then calc. if she's already taken calc trig shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks fender, she's having an easy time of Trig. too easy and we wondered what the significance of it was. Apparantly a difference from TX and CA HS's requirements.

Calc and trig aren't the same, but getting through calc requires picking up some trig if you've never had it before, so she probably learned a lot of the trig last year anyway.
