What's the deal?

I'm pretty sure that Princeton doesn't have an early decision/action program where people get results in the first week of November, but then again, I know very little about the university. The reason I am asking is because a guy from my school got his acceptance from Princeton today and I was just wondering how he ALREADY got in. He's very good at sports, but I wasn't aware that they did athletic recruiting.

BTW, I'm not applying to Princeton myself, I was just curious

Princeton sends out 'likely letters' indicating admittance to important recruited athletes.

just a sidenote- all ivy league schools send out likely letters to their most important recruited athletes. this is not just a princeton phenomenon.

but I don't understand how he was able to apply so early...

You can submit your application any time after it becomes available.

and likely letters can be mailed before November 1st.
