What's the difference between 103 and 104 courses? For example, in Math (Calculus) or something. Although I've taken IB Math SL (and gotten a 6), I would prefer not to have advanced placement.

Would it be detrimental to my education to not accept the advanced placement?

i dont think a 6 in SL would warrant advanced placement from Princeton. do u mean HL, if so then that i think would equate to 1st semester (103) Calc credit. Either way, you dont have to accept advanced placement but if you plan on taking more advanced math classes, you will most likely take a placement test to figure out which course would be better for you.

Word of advice- take 103. It’s relatively straight forward and easy and would help you settle down into Princeton. I made the mistake of taking a MWF 9am Maths 203 class that destroyed my social life freshman fall not to mention giving me my first C grade ever.

^^would 104 be better even if it would be more work? i want a finance certificate along with my major in history. the problem is they both require a lot of classes so i’d waste two years taking 103 and then 104 before i could start some of the advanced econ classes. skipping to 104 would help a lot but i probably won’t be able to. is 103 basic calc or are they both advanced

MAT 103 is derivative single variable calc. 104 is integral calc and some other stuff. It depends on what you’ve covered in school.
