ty for all repliess

I think the 84 is, uh, silver...

TI83 and TI84 all do the exact same thing except the TI84 Silver is the fastest and have more memory.

The TI 84 silver edition comes w/ some more features. I forgot what they were though. Except I know that there's the periodic table.

the TI-84+ Silver lets you donate more money to Texas Instruments.

the only important stuff i needed my TI-83+ for in high school was:

fnInt

Finding zeroes

Stat functions

I don't think I ever used any of the cool special stuff that the TI-83+ silver had (except maybe the tetris function during econ). If I were you, I'd try to get (in the following order):

Ti 83+

" silver

TI 84+

" silver

the marginal cost of an extra 50 bucks (this is a guess, i have no idea how much more these cost than TI-83s) is not worth a slightly faster processer, and a bunch of programs you'll never use.

The silver has more memory.

kinda off topic but i hear ti-89's can solve algebraic problems..thats sick

THe Ti-84 silver weighs a bit more. ( uber bored in chem)

Well, I guess the point is:

There is nothing that a TI84 Silver can do that any other 83/84 can't, it's all about what software you have installed. The TI84 doesn't have a periodic table "feature", it just comes preloaded with a lot of programs, one of which is a periodic table. http://ticalc.org has a huge archive of programs, so if you want a periodic table, you can definitely find one easily.
