I was thought Harvard was the best until I found out about MIT. I always asked my myself which one is better.

Nice Question. Period.

ps: Sorry, I can't answer this question, but I am really interested to know what others say on this.. :)

I'd say that it totally depends on what you are looking for...
Give us some more info about your situation and preferences...

MIT - tech university
Harvard - generalist

MIT students - are into tech, science and engineering stuff
Harvard students - want to be politicians/business tycoons :D

If you graduate from MIT, there'll be three jobs waiting for you (a fact), I dunno about Harvard.. Probably 4?

"I was thought Harvard was the best until I found out about MIT. I always asked my myself which one is better."

How do you define the word "better"? College A might be better than College B at accommodation/catering/party scenes, but College B might surpass College A in faculty accessibility? Will you say that B is better than A or the other way round? The point is, "better" is a subjective word.

To the best of my knowledge, MIT seems study-oriented. It's just a fact of life for all top tech schools, like Caltech. The PrincetonReview's poll showed that MIT and Caltech students seem to be the most unhappy ones in the country.--That being said, there has been a lot of criticism directed at the methodology of PR's statistics, so take their ranking with a grain of salt.

A huge proportion of MIT students are interested, as the name of the school implies, in engineering/science. If undergraduate research is not important to you, then I can safely say that the engineering/science departments in both schools are on the same level. If you are also an enthusiastic fan of art history/drama/English literature, then Harvard is for you. It's better at providing a liberal arts education.

Your question is like, is vanilla yogurt better than cranberry yogurt? And my answer is, it really depends on which flavor YOU like better. No one else can judge for you.

dont joke.......u wont get into both.....hehe......only exceptional people like me can get into it.......i have strong EC'S and SAT score of 2370...OK

^ You aren't going anywhere with THAT attitude.

^ you joking.. right..?

err.. that was meant for alam not for S33D..
and alam, your score is 1460 and not 2370!!!... I hope you understand the difference between 1460 and 2370. huh!

Newa.. Even 2370 + strong EC's can't guarantee you a spot at these schools.

Let me put this question a little differently: What do MIT and Harvard have in common?

They both are in MA. :)

They are both home to some of THE smartest people in the world!!

If you don't know the difference, then you havent probably done your research well.

dude, how different is your right armpit from your left nostril?
Lets put it this way: harvard dorms are like palaces, and MIT has the highest suicide rate in the US.
That said, I would happily sell half my soul to get into MIT Sloan.
Who's applied to MIT out here? and got an interview?

MIT has a quota that is 100 internationals per year. Harvard I don't know...

There's no "getting" an interview in MIT. MIT interviews everyone as long as one's area has an alumnus.

yeah thats wat i meant. you have to contact the alumnus. My point was, who did ?

I did. 10 char

^ I did too.
