I signed up for OHP almost entirely i just have to send the liability in but the other one looks like its only 24 hours. is that the only difference?

just wanna bump this.

I know I’m going up the Cal Day weekend but I’m having a hard time deciding the difference between the OHP and the OSP. Which one would you recommend?

I honestly have no idea. They’re both ways to visit Cal and for Cal to make a little extra revenue. And for students to make a little extra pocket cash (as the hosts) :)

lol okay im gonna go for the 2 days program…cuz it seems like id have more time to look at stuff. that’s OHP if ur wondering.

i got an email about OHP… but it turns out i’ll be at WashU those days for their multicultural thing… where can i get information about OSP? OHP is only a one time thing, right? i really want to visit cal haha.

OHP is the program they tend to offer to the regents winners and other applicants they particularly want to woo, while OSP is open to all accepted students. Run by different organizations but very similar programs otherwise. OHP happens to have its day 2 on Cal day, which has its own massive vibe that you wouldn’t find on the OSP second day. If you have the choice, I would recommend OHP.

Is there like a sample schedule or something that you can see for the OHP program? I want to visit Berkeley but I may just end up taking a campus tour depending on the details of the program and the timing of it. And is there like a reason why I can only see the OHP even though im from NY and didn’t get a scholarship or anything?

OHP is hosted by the Regents and Chancellors Scholars Association, but they do invite some who did not receive those scholarships too. Not sure the exact method or criteria they use. The Alumni Association runs the OSP program which has multiple sessions to handle far more visitors. It can be confusing with such similar names until you figure out who is hosting the session and who is eligible to attend.

oh. i wasn’t “invited” i dont think? but i logged on to my myberkapp and it said i could click on it and sign up for it…so is that basically “inviting” me?

i still am in shock that i got into berkeley. its so weird…i always thought i’d be the one watching how many people got into berkeley at my school and i wouldn’t be THE one.

it says my “airfare and accommodations will be made and paid for by UC Berkeley.” but what does “The fly-in program will only be held on Cal Day April 16 – April 17.” mean? (it was on my email.)

since i live on the east coast, does that mean they will only pay for the 16-17 program? I can only go on the april 9-10 one.

The same for me, I’m not regents but on myberkapp under events, I also have info about OHP. So I should do OHP instead of OSP, because Cal day takes place on the second day of OHP? The cost for OHP seems to be slightly cheaper too, 60 instead of 95 dollars.

yeah im doing that. when are u submitting housing? im scared everything will fill up by the time i go to OHP. and i dont want a crappy dorm.

Your dorm assignment does NOT depend on when you sign up, as long as you sign up by the final deadline. Everyone who requested housing is thrown into a pot, given random lottery numbers, and then their preferences are addressed in the order of their lottery assignment. No need to panic.

oh. that’s good! how do u know about that…just curious?
