Seconded! Ha ha ha

Applied to Mizzou because my parents promised me a car if I got a scholarship there (and reneged).
Applied to WashU because I lived right around the corner & spent so much time there I knew the campus like a senior.
Applied to Swarthmore, Middlebury and some other tiny LAC; but then forgot.
Applied to UVA because they paid for me to fly down and visit campus for a weekend.
Applied to Loyola Chicago because the app was free.

Didn’t apply to Michigan because Dad went to Ohio State (regretting that now).
Didn’t apply to University of Illinois because “UIUC” had to many vowels for me.
Didn’t apply to Kansas because its Kansas.

Refuse to apply to any school connected with a religion in any way. Being affiliated to a religion in the past is okay, as long as they’re secular now. But as a freethinker, I’d hate to be somewhere where religion is a big deal.

I didn’t apply to Wesleyan because everyone on their admissions page looked unattractive and hairy.

I applied to Occidental because rheir deadline was January 10th and I needed another school.

Didn’t apply to Williams because I love Amherst.
Didn’t apply to Knox because I read someone killed someone else. (Its rural!!)
Didn’t apply to Lake Forest b/c too many essays.
Didn’t apply to Colgate, Occidental, etc cause of the name, I mean come on.
Didn’t apply to MIT cause when I told a friend I was considering MIT, she asked me when I had become a nerd. :)

Applied to Midd cause everyone was ridiculously hot.

I decided at the last minute that i didnt want to apply to bates because i was reading a short story where the protagonist was called “Master Bates”. HAHA

^ LOL, I read that on a CC thread. I thought it was hilarious. And yes, I did apply to Bates.

I didn’t apply to Yale because the chick who toured me said “camm-bridge” instead of “came-bridge”

By “short story” I hope you mean Oliver Twist…

Okay, now that apps are done, I’ll probably add some more.

I didn’t apply to Yale because I live very close to Yale and frequently wonder why ANYONE would want to live in New Haven.
I applied to Berkeley because it was an extra $60 and I was already applying to UCLA and UCSD.
I didn’t apply to CMC because I didn’t wanna write their stupid analytical essay.

Actually it was a short story by anton chekhov.

NO privates that sound too public: UPenn, UChicago

NO privates affiliated with publics: Cornell

NO geographically ambiguous privates: WashU, Northwestern

NO schools that remind me of food or drink: Rice, Carnegie Mellon (at least the ‘melon’ part), Emory (Coca-Cola)

NO Midwestern or Southern schools

NO LACs b/c international and lay prestige matters to me, esp. ones that get confused with publics: Amherst (with UMass Amherst), Pomona (with Cal Poly Pomona)

Not applying because I accidentally slept past the deadline. My parents are gonna kill me.

NO religiously affiliated schools: Notre Dame, Georgetown

I applied to Penn and Swarthmore because the guy I like is applying there. :)

I’m also considering applying to Penn State Shreyer Honors College for the same reason.

NO private schools, I went to a private school for middle school and I couldn’t get along with the rich, snobby kids that went there (no offense to anybody hopefully)

NO schools without a Division I-A (BCS subdivision) football team

NO schools without engineering as a major

those were the main points in making my decision

I’m not applying to schools yet but I won’t apply anywhere what doesn’t have a football team. End of story. And nowhere where it’s hot. Nowhere in the south. Nowhere in Pennsylvania because it’s the worst state in the country. Also nowhere in Maryland, DC, or Virginia. And nowhere that doesn’t have club field hockey. The only exception tothat is the University of Wyoming.

Do not think my reasons are dumb, but others may:
Didn’t apply to Michigan State University as it is in the city of Lansing, where I currently live and only 10 minutes from not only home but many other relatives.

Ironic, Pierre0913, that you swore off private schools cause they’re too ‘rich, snobby’ but (no offense, of course - I do understand how you could have decided that) Clemson is regarded as a richer, preppier private school.

my son didnt reply to MICA because he didnt want to write their essay. Dumbest thing ever!
he even got his portfolio approved at the National Art portfolio day.
