I almost didn't apply to USC for the same reason. xD I did end up finishing, though. ^_~ I didn't apply to the state school because everyone said UT and I didn't know where that was. There were too many schools with UT in the name and I was too lazy to research the one everyone talked about.

I refused to apply to Uchicago because I lived nearby when I was a kid, while my dad was doing some weird med. program.
I also refused to even consider schools in Europe because I insisted they were "too far away"...the truth is I was too lazy to fill out another set of apps.

OH MY GOODNESS!!! I'm so excited that someone (thewu) actually knows where corvallis is! yay!!!!! Go Beavers!

and I just thought of another weird reason why I applied to a school.... I applied to BU because my tour guide told me there was a people watchers club =) Okay, that wasn't the only reason, but it was a big part

I applied to Northeastern for the heck of it. i guess that's pretty dumb.

D didn't apply to Boston University because the admissions rep couldn't figure out that if the school was 45% male...that it was therefore 55% female. (Someone had asked her the percentage of males vs females and she could only remember the female number!) The info session came to a halt and there was absolute silence for like 2 minutes as she tried to make the calculation. Nobody called out the answer. We were all too stunned to know that she would be the one admitting kids and determining their qualifications.

Also, D hated that the beds were too close together (like a foot and a half away from each other) in the model dorm we saw. And they were immovable.

In retrospect, she knows that BU could have remained on her list and that it offers a lot.

Davidson asked for a list of books I've read. I didn't think graphic novels counted. Haha.

John Hopkins...a little too cold. That, and I was afraid I would get shot.

I refused to apply to any of the ivy league schools because I thought (and still do) that they are overrated.

I didn't have a problem with crime rates for some of the cities my schools were in coming from New Orleans (Johns Hopkins, WashU), actually I think it made me like some of the schools more because I laugh whenever I hear other cities being called sketchy...

I started to apply to Villanova because they kept sending me crap over and over. Plus, my friend's last name is the same thing (minus an "L"). haha. I never actually followed through with the app though.

I applied to SUNY SB not just for an extra safety, but also because i could get there by ferry. Just the idea of a ferry excited me, lol!

I put a lot of effort into applying to Cooper Union because it had such a low acceptance rate. (7% or something.) It's also free, but the prestige had more to do with my decision. I also applied to what seemed like a safety school which was stupid because I never had any intention of attending a safety school.

I didn't apply to georgetown because I thought their undergrad business school wasn't top 20.

When I applied to Penn State I applied to York campus instead of University Park, because I didn't know University Park was the main campus (i thought the different names were just dorms), and I chose York cause i thought it sounded cool at the time...

Did not apply to:
Carleton: forgetfulness. I forget to send my common application cause I was so caught up with juggling applications, work and SAT. And I really wanted to apply
Tufts: my chance thread said I didn't hv a good chance.

I applied to WashU because they sent me a lot of lit.
I applied to Dartmouth because it was so beautiful, I knew I would want to go to the admit week just to see it again even if the drinking turned me off.
I applied to UW-Madison because everyone applies to UW-Madison.

I didn't apply to Tufts because it reminds me of a circus (the name).
I didn't apply to MIT because their campus is ugly.
I didn't apply to UPenn because... I don't enven know why, I just woke up not liking UPenn one day.
I didn't apply to any LACs because I don't want to repeat high school (small student population).
I didn't apply to Stanford because excess sun burns me and makes me mad.
I didn't apply to Columbia because I saw a video online that bashed it.

I didn't apply to Washington State cuz I hated the town and surroundings. There was nothing to do there. They don't even have a Walmart, you have to cross state borders to Idaho. Ridiculous

I didn't apply to Western Washington cuz it was too hippie-ish for me.

I didn't apply to Stanford cuz they required 2 subject tests. Then I applied to georgetown and realized they required 3. Then I took the subject tests and did horribly in them! :)

Colgate=toothpaste. St. Olaf's=count olaf from series of unfortunate events. Bucknell= bucks/cows are not for me. A couple others

not Cal Tech. Its site = poop on a stick. C'mon, it's an institute of technology. If you'd leave any student there locked in a room with a computer, no food and a book on php, html, etc. , he'd be bound to make a site nX better.

not Barnard ... never trust something that starts with "Barn"

I applied to colgate... cuz I use the toothpaste every day

That sounds so familiar. I didn't apply to UPenn because it's in Pennsylvania, even though I honestly don't mind Philadelphia. I just woke up one day and said to myself "I dont' like Pennsylvania" even though I've only been there once and it was an OK experience.

The only reason I applied to UCIrvine is because it is located almost adjacent to Newport Beach, where The O.C. was set.

I didn't apply to uchicago because the whole 'uncommon application' seemed so stuck up to me.

I ALMOST didn't apply to Tufts because of their extra "creative" essay. I thought they were so stupid. It turned out that it was a good idea to apply, though. I wrote a short story for the app which had nothing to do with college, and my parents liked it so much that it made them both cry, (it was about my friends and I dealing with change) so then I took it to my Harvard interview and my interviewer REALLY liked it as well. Who would have thought that a Tufts essay might help me get into Harvard?

Also, I almost didn't apply to Georgetown because their website and online application were so badly put together. Like, there was only one space to put your parents' names, and once you entered info, you couldn't go back and edit it, so I had to start over about 4 times.
If I go there, first thing I'm doing is writing a letter of complaint about that website.

Edit: this is like the 3rd time I've posted on this thread. I just keep remembering things! It's like college apps were a bad dream, and I've suppressed all the memories....hahaha

I didn't apply to any schools in the West Coast, Southwest, or the South because I don't like the heat or high humidity (my hair gets frizzy!) :p

Well I did apply to WUSTL...some would consider Missouri in the South? I would think it's in the Midwest personally. ;)
