<p>oh noo!!! that's awful.... just from the monetary standpoint, really....</p>
<p>bowler hat, not necessarily. i knew of an international student who hadnt taken american history (one of the AG requirements) and she got into a couple UC's, granted the lower ranked ones</p>
<p>Dartmouth didn't have any supplements that I had to write.</p>
<p>The funny thing is, I knew nothing about the pestilential things until I pressed submit and was met with "you are missing blablabla. Submit anyway?" And I clicked the hell out of that mouse.
Well to be fair I've already been accepted into my first choice, so all's well and good. I just keep telling myself "300 bucks, that's a Zune, 300 bucks, that's a Zune..."
I really wanted a Zune =(</p>
<p>hahha clicked the hell outta the mouse
& im sorry about your zune but congrats on your frist choice (:</p>
<p>"Didn't apply to Vassar because in search of lunch, my dad and I encountered a store specializing in fairy clothing...."
Personally, I think thats a very good reason. :)
I'm not applying to Macalester because it's in Minnesota. And I won't apply to Harvard becuase when I requested information, they never sent me any.</p>
<p>I'm only a junior, but...</p>
<p>I'm not applying to UCs, because they have enough asians there and don't need any from the east coast.
I'm also not applying to Colgate even though both of my best friends are applying ED, because my mom won't let me attend even if I get in because of its name.
I'm not applying to Tufts because of the Tufts syndrome and I'm afraid of being rejected.
I'm applying to Caltech because on a tour, the girl told me that I could play varsity sports there (I'm not very athletic, and this is among other reasons... obviously).
I wasn't going to apply to Brown because it's known to be very liberal and even though I consider myself a libertarian, I'm afraid of like the entire campus being druggies.
I'm applying to Duke because of the chance of a full scholarship to a top school.
... I think that's it for right now.</p>
<p>I went to Colgate and it was a good school for neuroscience and now Im a neurologist. So remember a name is a name is a name</p>
<p>I tend to get super judgmental towards a school's location.</p>
<p>Hampshire College was initially recommended to me a few months ago. For the longest time, I refused to consider it because I imagined how many times I'd have this conversation: "No, not in New Hampshire. That's just the name. Yes, it's in Massachusetts! Yes, I realize it's called Hampshire. No, you're not listening."</p>
<p>Glad I got past that.</p>
<p>I didn't look into any schools in NJ just because I wasn't a fan of NJ.
Even though I started the Princeton app. at one point. Never finished. </p>
<p>I almost almost applied to Cornell, but then didn't because of the high suicide rate.</p>
<p>Cornell's suicide rate is well below the national average.</p>
<p>I didn't apply to Knox because 1) My guidance counselor kept pushing me to go there after I said I wanted to go to a big univeristy and 2) The WAY bigger reason, they KEPT sending me these obnoxious e-mails, no joke, twice a day, that said "OPPORTUNITY KNOX" over and over again AFTER i took my self off the mailing list........</p>
<p>and the UC's b/c I wanted to go out to dinner instead of finish the app :)</p>
<p>I didn't apply to:
1) any schools in the south (even if they were good) because I still feel like it would be too much of a racist campus
2) HBCUs because I felt that I would easily get in, not enough of a challenge for me
3) USC because Kristin Cavallari (from Laguna Beach on MTV) and I felt that any school that would accept her, had to be stupid
4) Schools close to home, like in-state public schools (except for one because my mom forced me) because it was to close to home
5) Any school in Texas because it's where Bush lived
6) College of William and Mary, sounded like a cult, religious school
7) Yeshiva University had too weird of a name for me</p>
<p>I know I seem to be very picky, but people will always have their prejudices about schools</p>
<p>I applied to Princeton for the hell of it and got in.
Me and dad thought why not it could happen. Didn't have the most outstanding grades or sat scores. (3.3 uw and 1880) Extracurricular where pretty good. Essay, Interview, and Recs rocked the house.
Point is just give it a try what do u have to lose (Screw those 70 dollars they dont matter now)</p>
<p>and the weather does suck lol</p>
<p>and the UC application was just too much work lol</p>
<p>No thanks:
a) I withdrew my Middlebury application after my interviewer (who was class of 2006) told me she felt it was a very gay-UNfriendly campus.
b) Basically same story as above for Duke, UNC, Vanderbilt, and William & Mary.
c) WUSTL: every reason already listed. My mom used to be a flight attendant for TWA, based in St. Louis: she HATED it.
d) Whitman: my dad's alma mater... and Walla Walla? No thanks.
e) Any school in Oregon/Washington/California because I wanted to get the hell OUT.
f) Any school with an acceptance rate higher than 40% (except UBC and McGill, which don't count because they are very prestigious in Canada, and Dickinson, which was a safety x4000)
g) Goucher (reminds me of gooch-- look it up on urbandictionary), Skidmore=skidmarks, Kalamazoo=up the wazoo, Quinnipiac=the word nipple is in there SOMEWHERE, Oberlin=Oh, Berlin.
h) Bowdoin, Tufts, Princeton, Yale, UPenn, Johns Hopkins, UChicago, and many others: decided to party on New Year's Eve rather than finish essays. Although Princeton keeps bothering me about my incomplete application-- something about how they're REALLY looking for gay leaders... whoops.</p>
<p>Why not?
a) Northwestern: IR major, prestigious, and cold (eventually didn't finish)
b) Colgate: LOVE the toothpaste.
c) Dartmouth: we all need to (actually) apply to at least ONE ivy. C'mon.
d) Georgetown: I really want to be a snob when I grow up, and where else do you start?
e) McGill: Montreal has the best clubs in North America. Plus, drinking age is 18.
f) U St. Andrews, U Edinburgh: I wanted to be British. Sue me.
g) I switched to Early Decision II for Hamilton College (got in-- so happy) after visiting my good friend on campus for two overnights from heaven. I really wanted a school with insanely good academics, loose morals, and a LOT of booze. I found it.</p>
<p>Hahah I like your reasons.... we think the same way</p>
<p>i didn't apply to any schools in the midwest because the midwest reminds me of tornadoes and small towns (even though i know there are large cities).</p>
<p>i applied to NYU for a lot of reasons, but the dumbest reason is because i hate driving.</p>
<p>i only applied to one school that had a "guy" rating on college ******* lower than a b-</p>
<p>oh, and i applied to harvard, only because my mother wanted me to...
but i never sent in my transcripts...when i realized this, i figured I should withdraw my app, just in case they somehow would notify the other Ivies that I somehow wasnt serious or something.
anyway..I keep the letter they sent me tellin me I had withdrawn my application on my wall. Its kind of a confidence booster. Stickin' it to The Man. lol.</p>
