what's the hack

look at the admission ticket...and in the URL box...look at the last 7 digits of it... it will say regID=xxxxxxx copy the x's(your id number)

isn't the ACT ID number 8 numbers long preceded with a dash? mine is... mine says --> ACT ID: -xxxxxxxx

wow you guys are geniuses. or is it genii?

thanks so much!

When might it work? They say that they update scores every Wednesday and Friday, so I'm going to try on Saturday maybe to see. That would be what, 1 week after? Still, they come on Wednesday, one day before my SAT scores, which I took a week before the ACT. Is Collegeboard lazy or is it that the ACT has all 4 tests on one page, which makes it very easy to grade.

I think data from those questions is used to assess more of a general idea. Specific questions aren't recycled, but maybe certain types of questions are.

They can't just get an idea based off types of questions. The only way they can be 100% accurate is by using the questions on experimental sections on later tests.

perhaps they use it like 2 years later so people wouldn't take it agian.=P
but then people would just be compiling and memorizing experimental sections to sell to younger kids. that doesn't make any sense at all and i don't think it's true.

"Is Collegeboard lazy or is it that the ACT has all 4 tests on one page, which makes it very easy to grade."

yeah, i think college board is just lazy, lol

no, it's probably what you said --> the SAT has like 3 or 4 pages of scantron stuff, while the ACT has it all on one page

plus, i think slightly more people take the SAT too, so that'll delay those scores a little bit longer

i second what peytoncline says...

Update on scores...my ACT info page changed (no longer shows first link), so I tried the hack, and it let me in to a page where it says View Your Scores: Test Date: June 2008.....blah blah..."ACT has these scores on file"

However, no score is there, but it looks as though they have started grading them, I'm hoping it means they'll be up tomorrow.

Yeah, I was thinking it probably meant tomorrow, too. Cross your fingers for scores, CC!

What days do they update on?

"The curve" is determined by giving both new and old tests to equivalent samples of testers and creating a score conversion for each new test so the score curve comes out the same as for the old tests. This is part of what makes it a standardized test. Unless you happen to be in one of those samples that gets a new test--they only do it in October and at certain test centers--the curve is set in advance.

I imagine it can take weeks to get all the answer sheets from the test centers. And ACT headquarters is located in what is currently a federal disaster area, so the mail might be a little slow getting there.

So Sunday/Monday is coming up. I'm so anxious to get my scores.

Well it has to give a status of "Tested" instead of "Registered" for it to give you your scores, right?

hmm doesn't look like we're getting scores tomorrow :(

why not, akittka??

most likely the scores will be up monday or if not then for sure wednesday

i don't know. doesn't look like they posted them cause there was no maintenance post on the site.

I wouldn't be surprised if ACT(the organization) was looking on this thread and making sure we wouldn't get our scores until Wednesday lol. I'm sure they look at this place after each test to see what the smart people thought about the test(ie if even we thought that the science section had something that we wouldn't normally know(like some science term)) or if the questions were too easy or if it was a normal test.

...which is why people might want to stop bumping this thread (which has a very conspicuous title). And I know that this post's existence contradicts its purpose.
