Just curious, because I found out that it’s around 3.8 uw in my school (which is really good, but I’ve read a lot of stories about 3.95, 4.0 on this forum lol).
Are we talking weighted or unweighted? At my school there have been people who have around a 4.9 GPA, but they’re the people who take nothing but honors/AP classes. No art classes, music classes, or fun classes.
Unweighted, several people at my school (including me) have a 4.0.
Unweighted 4.0 idk about weighted but im a junior and 2nd in my class with a 4.338 that should increase
My school counts both honors and AP as 5.0 and CP (college prep, which is normal) as 4.0, if the number grade is 93-100. Thankfully, almost all of the electives have honors and/or AP versions so the people at our school only have PE and Health dragging their WGPA down. Best WGPA at our school is about 4.9 (and some crazy decimal), and best UW is 4.0, plenty of people have 4.0, but not necessarily more than 4.4 in WGPA.
I know the valedictorians for past years (our school uses WGPA for class rank) have all gotten 4.9 and have taken all honors and AP throughout their years.
I have a 4.0 unweighted. Weighted, one kid has a 5.0 and the top class GPA but it’s really not fair because he’s homeschooled so he doesn’t take all of his classes here and he didn’t have to take regular 4 point classes like gym or health to graduate like the rest of us.
It sounds like your school is more challenging than most, if the highest unweighted GPA is 3.8. My school didn’t have weighted GPA, and I think three people in my class had a perfect unweighted GPA. Unlike with unweighted GPA, the highest possible weighted GPA depends on how many weighted classes are available.
My school uses unweighted, although I’m not too sure how the number grades correspond with the GPA. Perfect GPAs are crazy though, how do these people do it?? LOL
My school’s maximum unweighted GPA is 4.0. The maximum weighted GPA is 5.0, however, you can only have a 5.0 if you take 7 APs and get an A in each class as a final grade…
Have a good day!
Unweighted: 4.0
Weighted: probably 5.1-5.2 (we count regular A as 4, honors A as 5 and AP A as 6).
It depends on the school’s grading scale. Some schools have a 10-point grading scale in which 10.0 is maximum. But most schools employ 4.0 grading scale.
