Whats the highest grade you can get in college? Is it an 'A' or an 'A+' ?

If you get all A+ , can your GPA be higher than 4.0?

no, for higher than 4.0. and depending on the college some colleges weigh A-, and A's differently. So if you get a A- you wont have a 4.0 as opposed to an A. If that helps you.

So the highest grade is an 'A' ? Why don't they use the 'A+' like in high school?

I am not sure if they use A+ or not. All i know is that may sister said that A is enough for a 4.0 for the class/

Most High Schools that I know of do not use an A+. 100% i an A.

I think the highest at my high school was an A+ and you can get a 4.5 GPA if you get all A+

Most schools max is A, 4.0. But I think at Berkeley and maybe a few other colleges, A+ is 4.33.

.. Because college isn't high school. No one is expecting you to get a 4.0, much less better than that.

...and because class average probably isn't an A anymore, so there's no need to distinguish between A and A+ -- not that many people would be getting either!

At my school, UC Davis, it is possible to have an A+ on your transcript, to show that you've done particularly outstanding work. However, they are very hard to get and they only count as 4.0. An A-, however, counts as a 3.7. :-( Unlike high school, it is almost impossible in college to get higher than an 4.0.

And, as practically everyone else has said, there really is no need for the A+ in college. It's difficult enough to get an A, and your extra credit opportunities decrease drastically -- most professors I've had don't give any. So, aim for an A and be happy with it.

Hiko, it depends on the school. Some schools have a system that only goes up to A, others have an A+. I can get 4.333 (approx.) grade points for an A+ at my school, but no one (that I know of) can get an overall or major GPA above 4.0.

What school do you go to bluealien? It's always seemed unfair to me that my A can be dragged down by an A-, but not boosted up by an A+. pout I'm jealous!

ncsu...........

Oh I think I read that on another thread. Should've remembered, sorry.

bluealien-NCSU? Hey, umm, i have a bunch of friends who go there. Did you go to hs in NC?
