What's the highest score you would retake?

id retake math 2 lower than a 750..same with hist, but for bio i would only retake lower than a 700

awesome thread!
for math 770
for anything else 740
I'm retaking us hist and bio b'cause i got 690 on both
foil and anyone else who would retake a 790, if you're doing it for your own ego, that's minutely understandable, but realize it won't matter to adm offcers AT ALL. Money really isn't an issue. Why would waste all that time studying is beyond me. Go outside and bask in the sun... jesus

I took Bio-E in June, and I got a 740. I don't like biology at all, so I'm not retaking. There are other subjects that I can do better on.

Next year, I'm taking a few subject tests: world history, literature, math level 1, and maybe chemistry (if I'm good at it). In math and world history, I definitely want an 800. History and math are two of my favorite/strongest subjects. With literature, I'd be happy with anything above a 720.

I retook a 770 in IIC, but I'm not retaking my 680 in USH (I'm not sure if I have the time). I don't know...What things do you guys consider before retaking a test?

Although I haven't experienced this yet, I think the two most important questions to ask yourself are:

-Do I know that I can do better if I retake it?
-Is the effort of studying and retaking worth it in the end?

I just got a 790 on chem and I'm retaking it in October, which I KNOW is ridiculous and OCD but I'm already signed up for two tests, it's only $12 more, and I'm absolutely dead-certain I can get an 800 without studying for it. So yeah.

I'm retaking my 740 Math IIC because I'm curious to see how I'd do if I actually study. Also, I'm thinking of applying to MIT, which requires a Math IIC score... and 740 probably won't look very good compared to the rest of the applicants (sigh). Sadly, though, if I had gotten a 750, I wouldn't want to retake it. I don't know why my brain drew a line between the two scores... but, ehhhh. I'm happy with my 770 US, though. I'm not THAT insane =)

I'm retaking my Math IIC test which I got a 720 on with very little studying. I am confident that I can get a 800 with studying. I just am not sure when to retake it! I have to retake SATs in October andd...ack I don't want to get absolutely insane haha.

why don't all of you who claim to "not study" and want to retake tests after having studied, actually study in the first place? waste of an extra day and money..

I got a 640 on my US History last year, and I'm not retaking it.
I just got back my June MathII score (it was a 610, and I'm not retaking it.

Both of these scores are pretty dang weak, especially for the schools I'd like to go to. But I got a B,B,A in my AP US History class and a 4 on the AP exam sophomore year. It's just a waste of time and $10 bucks to retake a lousy SAT subject test.

I should've done much better on the math score, seeing as how I've gotten a solid A all year in my AP Calculus class and am expecting a 4/5 on the AP exam. But it just feels like a waste to retake a subject test. Pre-calculus isn't my favorite type of math anyway. I detest it.

What's the point? It's just going to mean more re-studying of subjects when I have other things to focus on; extracurriculars and sports that are incredibly important to me, academics in my senior year, etc.

If admissions officers are going to deny me on a 3-numbered score to retake when I can be out hanging out with friends, being a high schooler, and enjoying my last year of innocence and childhood, then that's not my problem. It'll be their loss.

Plus I'll have no time; ACT in September, SAT in October. Senior project, applications, school, extracurrics, etc.

Et tu, LesOs. Et tu.

740 for sciences
760 for math IIc

for anything else I would never retake anything above 740.

I believe that colleges might have a range for test scores.

I think anything over 700 is solid and if you can score an 800 the first time, good job. But taking it over and over for an 800 seems obsessive and only shows that practice or familiarity with the test boosts your score.

A 800 doesn't really look that much better than a 770 imo. It's like a difference of 2 or 3 questions.

These SAT II scores are ranges anyway, let say if you have 780, the range is probably 760-800( for example, I pulled this out of thin air). Please check the SAT II scores report and you'll see what I mean, it's not an exact number.

I'd take a 700 for all subjects except math...I'd like 750+ for that.

I'm retaking Math 1 because I **know **I can do better than a 710. I only got to question 45 and wasted a lot of time stressing on one question, which is like the worst thing you can do during a timed test.

Anyway, I'll probably take Math 1, Math 2, and (most likely) Lit in November to go along with my 790 in US History. Hopefully that will be the last time I take any type of SAT.

Is there anyone here who can give some info about Lit? One of my friends didn't study at all for it and had ETS cancel all his tests from that day because he thought the test was so hard...

I'm almost sure that I'm going to retake a 750 chem.

"Et tu, LesOs. Et tu."
Hey! What is that supposed to mean? How did I betray you? =(

"why don't all of you who claim to "not study" and want to retake tests after having studied, actually study in the first place? waste of an extra day and money.."
Leading up to the SAT IIs, I had taken some sort of standardized test (SAT, AP, USNCO...) for the past 6 weeks. Along with the "Oh, no, we're really far behind in the course, so now we're going to go at lightning speed!" end-of-the-school-year phenomenom, I simply didn't have time to study. And... to be honest, the night before the test, I decided to go out for dinner with my friends instead of studying. I figured that it was too late to learn the things that I didn't know, anyway (unfortunately for me, I assumed that my brain had retained certain formulas from the beginning of the semester....) Over the summer, though, I'll have plenty of time to prep!

i wouldn't retake, i'll just take it for another subject

My dad wanted me to retake my 760 Chem. I refused

The semi-funny part is that I won't even report that one to colleges because I got 800 on Physics and US and 790 on Math II.

It would really depend on the test for what I would retake. about 730 on any math/sci probably
