what's the interview like?!?!

Hey, I just got an email from an interviewer in Australia (i doubt it'd be much different whether u are international or not) but I was wondering what sorta things they ask about in the interview etc etc any tips? advice? etc

for me, the interview was really fun. my lady was really exciting. basically, she asked about everything . . .my favorite subjects, teachers, extracurriculars. i think we covered all the bases. she also gave me time to ask her questions.
hope this helps

I made sure I came with some questions. The interviewers really do respect when you put effort into being prepared. Bring a resume. Bring some questions and just be at ease. I've yet to have an interview experience that was uncomfortable but I do know that there are some that do ask those tricky existential questions and try to philosophize with you. Essentially, the interview wants to hear about YOU. If you ask about specific programs at Harvard or ask about their experiences, when was the last time they visited the campus, what their thoughts were about the difference then and now those would be interesting things to inquire about. You can even ask about how Harvard keeps them involved as alumni (apart from their volunteering to interview) and how they liked that. As long as you bring a resume, some questions and an at least semi-cheerful self I'm sure they'll appreciate it and write you a favorable report.

excellent advice metric - appreciated

anyone else with words of wisdom>?

metric's right about coming up with a list of questions-it does show that you've prepared. as for the resume, harvard has a "pre-interview" form that they want you to fill out, so i didn't bring anything else. your interviewer has no access to any other part of your file, so put as much as you can on there because that's how the interview will be structured. oh, and even if it's at an office setting, check with your interviewer if it's formal or casual, because mine was at his office and he forgot to tell me that it was casual, so i showed up in a full suit while he was in his sweats. it actually made for some very nice conversation, but save yourself the worry!
