What's the Last Great Movie You Saw?

400 Blows is a great movie, but what else do you expect from one of the top 10 French Directors of all time?

If you enjoyed the 400 Blows (les Quatre Cents Coups), then here's some good news. The 400 Blows is the first 4-part movie series about a character called Antoine Doinel. It follows his life from when he is about 15 years old until when is an adult. The 400 Blows is slightly depressing...but you must take it in the context of the period and locale. The other three sequels are:

L' Amour a Vingt Ans (aka...Antoine et Colette or Love at 20)
Baisers Voles (this is my favorite of the 4...aka...Stolen Kisses)
L'Amour en Fuite (Love on the Run)

They are equally good and not quite as depressing.

Other awesome Truffaut movies are:
- A Bout de Souffle (aka... Breathless with Jean Paul Belmondo)
- Les Dex Anglaises et le Continent (aka...Two English Girls. Make sure you get the 130 minute version)
- Jules et Jim
- Nuit American (aka...Day for night)
- La Petite Voleuse (aka...the Little Thief)
- Tirez sur le Pianiste (aka...Shoot the Pianist or Shoot the Piano Player)

How about Amelie? :o

Amelie was great...but I did not include Foreign Language films on my list. That would take too much space! LOL

i loved Maria, Full of Grace <-- foreign film
also Napoleon Dynamite, Wicker Park, and Garden State
are my recent adds to my favorites list

Hmmm... off the top of my head Requiem for a Dream, Wicker Park, Breakfast at Tiffany's, and almost all chick flicks... and I'm talking Legally Blonde level chick flicks! They're sooooo dumb and mindless but amazingly funny. That's what I watch when I want a good laugh with my friends.

... Napoleon Dynamite? Please! That was singledhandedly the worst movie I have ever seen. I am completely serious about that and I have seen some really bad movies. What is it's appeal? It's completely mindless and has a horrible plot.... maybe I just can't comprehend the high level of intelligence it requires... :) LOL

Well you have certainly covered Wes Anderson, welshie.

Last great movie I saw was Princess Mononoke, which I got on DVD for Christmas.

my favorite movie is Blue streak-with dave chappel and martin lawrence, also this new series i got on dvd by penn and teller is quite good, BBUULLSSHHIITT thats the name, just trying for it not to be blocked out so i wrote double

"Well you have certainly covered Wes Anderson, welshie."

I would have added Bottle Rocket, but I haven't watched it since the Summer.

I recently rented Ocean's Eleven and loved it. I would definitely suggest it.
And as far as older movies go..... Indiana Jones movies are awesome, Raiders of the Lost Arc was definitely the best. And the Back to the Future trilogy movies are also great.

my favorite movies:
Motorcycle Diaries
Hotel Rwanda
City of God
Amadeus
2pac: Resurrection

Last movie I saw that I loved is probably The Notebook. If you like romance etc. it is definitely a must see. My friends and I loved it and spent the entire time crying. Have a tissue on hand!

Diary of a Mad Black Woman....Hilarious

The Notebook was amazing, definitely see it if ur into that genre!!!!!

For those of you who liked Napopleon Dynamite (I didn like it but i liked this movie)
watch Without A Paddle............its ridiculously funny

I agree Napolean Dynomite was funny...at all.

finding neverland and garden state were pretty good.

napoleon dynamite was just weird...not funny really...only good to watch so you can imitate the "gosh"

Without a Paddle is crap.

Easy Rider is an awesome movie, check that out. Same with Requiem for a Dream.

last movie i saw was White chicks in the weekend (i never got to see it with friends so I saw it was my sister lol). funny funny movie

napolian dynamite is so weird and strange and kinda lame that why i thought it was funny.

lol funny is a weird word.

Although I haven't seen this movie recently, I just remembered how great it is. And it looks as though not too many people have seen it since it's not on any of the previously posted movie lists.

The movie is simply called: The Game

It came out in 1990 and it stars Michael Douglas. The movie is a great psychological thriller. I highly recommend it.

Harri, the Game was a great movie. One corection however...it was made in the late 90s...97 I think.
