What's the latest your son/daughter has ever received a summer internship offer?

I'm right about close to the point where I'm ready to finalize my summer plans. However, there's still this one internship that I haven't heard a yes/no answer and it's bothering me because that would probably be my first choice if I get accepted to it. I asked them earlier this week and they said they were still in the process of making selections. If I don't get the internship, I'm planning on going to China so I would need to buy a plane ticket asap.

When's the latest someone you know has ever heard from a summer internship offer?

A friend’s daughter just received a paid internship offer from Facebook two days ago.

A company is chasing my son for a summer internship - they want to wrap up the paperwork next week. I still see companies looking for interns for this summer. Saw a bunch of emails last week from local companies looking for interns.

I received an offer today, waiting to hear on another one, and have another interview next week.

So how much longer would you suggest I keep waiting? I’ve never applied for internships before.

What’s your major and are you in MA for the summer?

I’m majoring in civil engineering. Currently I’m planning on being in MA for the summer but some of the internships I applied to are in the DC area/mid-Atlantic region (willing to move for that)

I spoke to a friend of mine with a son that studied Civil Engineering at a well respected MA school and entered a grad program and took a coop and was let go midway through the coop. He hasn’t been able to find anything since (such as a full-time job or coop).

I had a look at indeed.com for Belmont, MA (and surrounding area) and only saw a few coops. It appears that engineering firms prefer coops to internships in your field. I guess that you could scour the job boards or use any network contacts that you may have.

My daughter’s friend who is also an engineering major(not sure which) has not found an internship yet. I think she abandonned her plan to find a paid internship this summer. Her last day of school was last week.

I know of a kid in engineering at Columbia who is still waiting to hear about an internship. Sounds like it wouldn’t start until mid June if he gets it.

My D got one internship offer about a week ago, and another this past Friday – both engineering/computer science-type jobs.

I just secured an internship at a midsize lawfirm in downtown Seattle for the summer. I am a rising senior btw.
