whats the lowest score anyone has heard of that got some one into an Ivy league school?

well it probably is like in the 1100's, mostly because of athletes.

They have to want the kid really bad. Dartmouth retracted one of it's "recruitments" cuz that recruit from my school got a 1140...

any1 get into an ivy league with less than 1100, anyone heard of something like that?

saw one kid that got into dartmouth that had a 1180....but he also got a 35 on the ACT so i guess that doesn't really count

at my high school, the highest score was in the 1300s and that person did not even apply to an IVY (I dont think he did), but a different girl got ACCEPTED to Harvard and had SATs so low that she would not tell anyone her score. She had otherwise good grades, ecs, personality, recs, etc. I'm guessing she got in the 1000s or possibly 900s. She applied EA and had an interview with the Harvard people (they came to see her and they went out to lunch on a school day).

Maybe she didn't want to say her scores because she didn't want to brag.

im sure there are several in the 1100's because of minorities. Harvard especially doesn't concentrate on just secondary school report and sat. Those Native Americans or alaskans are pretty much begged to come regardless of their stats.

Harvard adcoms virtually state that the bottom SAT I score for consideration is a 1200. I doubt if the other Ivies would go lower.

As for what Dukedreamer said: There are enough URMs with scores of 1200 or higher for the Ivies to have diverse classes. I know URMs with SAT I scores exceeding 1400 who were rejected by Ivies. This includes a Native American with a 750 m and a black student with a 750 verbal. Neither had great gpas, though both had very rigorous curricula and national-level achievements in nonathletic ECs.

The Ivies go out of their way to take people who have the scores and stats indicating they will be successful at Ivies. Ivies have some of the highest graduation rates in the country, including for URMs. At Harvard, for instance about 97% of students graduate within 6 years. I think the figure for black students is around 93%.

Eh, I know a 1250 (give or take 20 or so...forget exactly his score) who got into UPenn...

And a 930 who got into NYU. Yes, I know that's not an ivy, LOL. I'm just saying that selective schools do sometimes look past SATs because they're more conerned with how hard you've worked and what grades you received.

I thought that the Ivy League didn't accept athletic scholarships?

1080 at Columbia but URM

its not really a "scholarship"... they call it something else to go around it.

how the heck did she get into columbia with a 1080?!!

The salutatorian got into Yale with 1270 but that was in 2003 when my sister graduated

that just shows that sat scores aren't all that colleges are concerned with. i mean, of course, sat scores factor into the process but if you have special qualities that make you stand out, ec's, and good grades, that'll help a lot.

indeed they will

canadia what HS do you go to (LMHS here)

starbot harriton. i don't think you'd know who i am (only a sophie).

yea, probably not, but get off this board till you're at least a junior! (it's not worth stressing until at least then if not later!!)
